Event Description

Discussion for our 7th Annual Savannah Gaming Weekend

Fellow Gamers,

We have selected the dates of September 5-7 for this premier annual Savannah event. There is no charge to attend this event although we do need participants to "support" the Club Venue by purchasing the buffet meals that will be served once each day. Our venue will once again be the Savannah Quarters Country Club (SQCC) located just west of beautiful Savannah, Georgia. This event serves as an opportunity for gamers in the Southeast to get together for a weekend focused primarily on wargames with a mix of other games thrown in for good measure. We have ample room for up to 50 gamers and most of the gaming is open format. We do have room to setup some monster games if there is enough interest and you let us know in advance so we can set aside the space.

There are quite a few hotels located near SQCC with a broad range of amenities and rates.

As always - there will be some very nice "door prizes" that we will draw for each day for those in attendance.

Friday-Sunday

Sep 5 9:00am – 10:00pm (dinner buffet @ 6:00-7:30pm) $20 per person includes tax & gratuity and should be paid to Chris via cash or check

Sep 6 9:00am – 10:00pm (lunch buffet @ 12:00-1:30pm) $20 per person includes tax & gratuity and should be paid to Chris via cash or check

Sep 7 9:00am – 5:00pm (Sunday Brunch @ 10:30am-2:00pm) $13.95 per person includes tax & gratuity and on Sunday should be paid via Credit or Debit Card (an outstanding brunch including a wide variety of selections including salads, soups, eggs to order, fruits, omlette station, waffle station, danishes, etc...you will not be disappointed!)

I will be collecting the cash/checks for the Friday/Saturday buffets and might offer some sort of advance payment beginning this year to ease the administration and not interrupt game play. For the Sunday buffet as well as any alcohol or other beverage purchases (other than Tea/Water with the Fri/Sat buffets) you will need to use your Credit/Debit card.

Free Beverage Station - just like previous years, there will be a free beverage station open for our group all weekend long! We do ask that you not bring in outside food/drinks to the club. If you want to buy a beer, wine or liquor they have a full service bar that will be open most of the day/evening.

Dress Code - "Country Club Casual", everyone needs to wear a collared shirt. Nice shorts, slacks, and jeans are all fine. Beach/Pool type sandals are not allowed in the clubhouse but "dressier" sandals are fine. If you have any questions on the dress code please let me know.

See you in Savannah!!

Chris

Tim,

Just saw your question so sorry for the late response.

Here is Mark's posting...

Battles of the American Revolution

Here is the line up and format for this year's BoAR tournament at Savannah Skirmish. We will play three Heats and a semifinal on Saturday, 9/6 as follows:

H-1, 9:00 AM Saratoga. H-2, 1:00 PM Eutaw Springs. H-3, 4:00 PM Guilford Courthouse (historical scenario.) SF, 7:00 PM Newtown (historical scenario.)

The top-6 players from the Heats will play in the semifinal and those 3 winners will play in the 3-player Savannah final at 9:00 AM Sunday morning.

I am only seeing a few comments below. I thought I saw Mark post the BOAR games that would be played this year, but I cannot find that posy anymore. Is it gone or do I need to do something to see it?

Mike,
I refer you over to our thread on the CSW game conventions forum. There is no fee to attend but there are a few other key points. We ask participants to purchase the buffet each day (Fri-Sat, $20 cash or check to me) as that is how I get the room for free. Also we have a dress code policy of "country club casual" which I describe there as well.

I will add your name to the list of visitors at the security gate so you can get in.

Let me know if you have any other questions. If you need my cell phone number just email me per the note below.

My wife and I will arrive on Thursday afternoon/evening.

I haven't really decided what games I will be bringing beyond, hopefully a early version of the game I am working on called "The Defense of Corona" detailing the initial battle from the 1953 War of the Worlds Movie.

Looking forward to meeting you and playing.

Mike,
Not too late at all and it sounds like you are overdue for getting to a gaming weekend! I have added your name to the list of attendees. You can bring either cash or check with you to the weekend.

Feel free to email as well at my email address: easter.usma@gmail.com

A couple of quick questions: 1) what day will you arrive and days to attend?, 2) what games are you wanting to play?

Hi Chris,

I hope its not to late to attend.  I RSVP'd.  How do I pay for meals and so forth?  Upon Arrival?  Pay Pal.  Etc.

This will be the first wargaming convention I have attended in over 10 years!
