Event Description

Now in its 3rd year, UK Games Expo is the UK's largest multiformat gaming show.

I am not an organiser or official of the Expo. I've put it up here because I'm planning to attend, and hope to run a Combat Commander tournament.

NB. The dates are from the site. The start/end times are unconfirmed.

The tournament's official page is now up on the UK Games Expo website, so the event is a definite GO for all those were waiting to see how it'd pan out before considering whether or not to commit to entering. Places are limited, and there are 5 1/2 entrants confirmed already, so skates on chaps, eh? ;)

I'm getting into the swing of the planning now. This event will go ahead, barring fire, flood or famine. There may be as few as 6 places left already. Anyone who really wants to go should think about confirming sooner rather than later.
cheers,
John ;)

The latest count is: 6 promised, including me; and as many as a dozen possibles. This is very encouraging. ;)

Latest news: first definite promise to attend (cf. the CC@UK Expo'09 thread at BGG). So now that's 1 definite and 2 possibles.
cheers,
John ;)

There is a UK Games Expo facebook group too. I'm hoping this too will help me get my tournament organised. ;)

So, I've recieved my first UK Expo newsletter; made my application to GM my CC tournament Friday evening and Saturday; and joined UK Expo@facebook. Some of you will already have recieved emails and other invites I hope. ;)

So, like I said, I plan on running a Combat Commander tournament at UK Expo'09. My tournament GM experience is minimal:
- A 4-player, all-play-play plus final Up Front tournament.
- A 6-player Memoir'44 tournament following the WBC format DoW posted on their M44 site way back when.
These were both run at DiceCon, a small Scottish boardgames con based here in Glasgow. So I have to say that I am a bit nervous to be planning to take on the responsibility for running a CC event at a con as big as UK Expo. This all the more so since Barry Ingram (on both CSW and the BGG) considered CC for last year, and decided he couldn't do it (he'll be running M44 and C&C:A again, just he did last year). All I have to say to that is that I am keen to get CC running here in Britain, so that someone can take ove and give me a chance at the prize!

Also, I'm planning on trying to get CC going at DiceCon too. My friend Badger has already agreed to help me with that.

So, my purpose here is to network for:
1. Some moral support.
2. Ideas about a suitable format.

That's it for now. ;)
