Campaign game featuring 1 vs. 1 or team play
In case you have not seen my posting in the CSW Prezcon folder or the BGG Vietnam page, the event has been cancelled. The players needed to make it work didn't materialize. I apologize for any inconvenience.
I hate to say it, but I am going to have to absent myself from this event, I am not going to the con. I am forced by outside circumstances to move, my living situation has changed, and I wil be moving out of here, middle of next month. I am jacked off about the whole thing, and my apologies as I think this will be a blast with the players needed to support it. I am sorry, truly. I will look for this type of event at other cons, or might run it myself. Best of luck to all who might, or will attend.
As of the moment, you and I are the two guaranteed players. Additional players that would show up, would be assigned to one of us as a teammate. I would like to max out at 2-teams of 2-players. If more want to play, which I would be surprised, then the possibility would be to open up a second tbale for 1 vs. 1, etc.
I put some notices up on BGG in some threads relating to the game.
Okay, I got room reserved, and set up, got a map, directions, route. Lotooks like I am set.
I've put this on my own meetup forum, fields of fire online, and word of mouth.
Is there a plan to handle one or two day players if you get any? (as in, they want to hit the table on day 2 only or day 2 and 3?)
Welcome aboard officially!
BGG has good AARs on this game, including full campaigns.
Pass the word to your gaming friends about the event. More participants the better as part-time participation should be expected for such an event at a non-monster game oriented convention. I understand that the Doubletree Hotel is filling quickly, but other hotels at reasonable rates are nearby.
I'm officially pre-paid and registered for the three days, with Monster:Vietnam as my only event so i'll be rested each day. I've been scouring BBG for hints and tips, along with some historical reading. Now to find a room there.
Send out the word! If need be, there could possibly be room for twom separate games if need be.
Okay, that makes total sense, I just wanted to confirm what was the basic plan for expansion if any of available players. That's how I've seen "Monster" wargames done at Conventions since I've been attending them (1985). With your permission, I will post this event on Fieldsoffire.com, a veritable hub of vietnam related gamers (who mostly do minis, but some wargames like this). Many of those gentlemen are Vietnam veterans, and some would very likely to travel to a one-of-a kind event such as this.
The table should be available throughout the course of the three days. In terms of how it will be organized in terms of 1 vs. 1 or 2 teams of two, etc. wholly depends on the commitment I received from other gamers. I personally like the idea of team play, and Vietnam could support such an arrangement.
