As has been case for most of the 35 yrs since 14 - almost nothing. Have run hundreds of Diplomacy games ftf & online as can always get players. Have run acquire & executive decision as well online. Adapted Fighting Sail & Flying Circus for non-wargamers & ran a few online. Can solitaire Fred the Great & 1776 + have some folios to grab a newbie every once in a while. Thank god for the SSi Napoleons/Civil Wars (could care less on graphics not a Talonsoft fan). Can always enjoy them. Have 40-50 board wargames but little hope.

Playing AP "Bismarck" via Skype and e-mail with my son. He's the Admirality and I am sending reports and receiving orders and playing out the only copy we have of the game ! Recently played Triumph of Chaos, a blast, Silver Bayonet, less of a blast and looking forward to trying Blood and Bridges which just arrived in the post.

War on Terror (four-player, a close one), Queen's Gambit (my 16-year-old nephew crushed Naboo again), Down in Flames DVG (Midway campaign, a 61-point Japanese major victory).

Twilight Struggle 'late war scenario' [from C3i]

Another great gaming experience ruined by my beloved younger children. Went down to the basement to prepare continuation of Flying Colors and found all the ships in a rather different formation from that which they were left in. I had a pic from the end of the previous turn, but too much had happened in the meantime to recreate the placement. :-(

Just finished a game of Twilight Struggle. I was successfully whittling the Soviet VPs down and had a (slim) chance of putting some pressure on my opponent as we were at Turn 10 with no Auto Victory in sight for either of us. Defcon was sitting at 2, so no further coups or realignment shenanigans would be forthcoming for either of us in any meaningful regions. I had a few card plays left to build up a few key locations and things were looking decent for the first time in several turns. Then he said, "How about a nice game of chess?" He dropped the Wargames card and it was all over but the cryin'. Great way to end the game on the last turn! (For him!) Still, it was fun and play and I'm looking forward to switching sides and trying again.

I had somebody do Wargames on me in the 'Short Scenario' [latewar/C3i]; so we ended up only playing turns 8&9!

Played a game if Vikings last night, and, although I won, it was a little unsatisfying. The complete, and nearly devastating, randomness of the cards almost undid me. Overall, it was an OK game, although there is some ambiguity in the movement rules. Definitely better with more beer.

Once we finished that game, we then played a game of Pacific Typhoon which, I am happy to say, I also won (much to the consternation of my opponents ;-). This game, of course, has been played many times in our little group (although we did introduce it to one player last night). That is one of it's strengths, of course, easily learned, difficult to master. Although it plays well with 4, I'd like to see it once with the full 7 players, as I think the interactions would be quite interesting.

I've found the internal debate (i.e. the debate in my head) has been to either play a lot of games poorly or a few games well. I prefer the latter model, but then you must, as you say, find that set of holy grail games that one chooses to become goo…
