In our group, Here I Stand is pushed often as the group wargame of choice. We also trotted out Italia a couple to times and the response is lukewarm. A friend is helping develop Infidel so I've playtested a couple scenarios. All told, I only get to game about once a week and the group dynamic militates against the neglected 2 player games on the shelf. Sigh.
Another good choice would be Napoleonic War 2nd edition. Our group always played this when there is a multiplayer session. I had it 3 times and all of them were very fun, entertaining and intelligently educating.
Having just reclaimed the "game room" when my son went back to school after the holidays, we are setting up a new game. I have never tried "For The People", so we are taking it out for spin. This is waaaay outside my usual time period for gaming, so I hope I'm not too out of my depth. But I keep hearing good things about this game. So... I'm jumping in at the deep end.
Is it the GMT version or Avalon Hill? :-) I think i know the answer already!
The GMT version. Chad found we were missing the play aids, so that game is back on the shelf until we can get copies. So we switch to Plan B: "A Most Dangerous Time" instead. This one is also new to me so I in the same boat as before. Should be fun!
You can check out the files for AMDT on BGG under the game title! There alot of questions asked and answered! Good luck!
GMT's Hellenes and SPQR Deluxe, S&T 260 Medieval battles of the Black Prince, and Europa Simulazioni's Guelphs & Ghibellines. All good fun.
I'm playing my newest game Liberty Roads. Excellent! Tomorrow I will starting a live vassal campaign game of Eastfront II.
Just started our second game of Von Manstein's Backhand Blow. Last time my son and I played the 4 turn scenario 1 (in which my Germans lost miserably). This time, the campaign, with me as Soviet.
A good gaming weekend - two plays of Twilight Struggle on Saturday and a four-player game of Through the Ages on Sunday. And I'm reading the rules to Liberty Roads in the downtime.

Now I have to learn how to play via VASSAL so I can run the out-of-house playtesting for Fighting Formations. And somewhere in all that fun I have to find time for my day job. :0(
Right now, I'm developing Rob Markham's Saratoga, for the TPS line, so that's on the table.
I played some ASL over the weekend on VASL! Quite fun!
