A week ago Sunday four TANGsters arrived for a lively game of Ironclads, for an
1879 scenario where the Peruvian Huascar made a valiant attempt to return home
while chased by two new Chilean Armored Cruisers. In order to make the scenario
evenly matched, two Civil war era Monitor's were added to the Peruvian mix.
On the first Turn, Huascar made drew first blood with her 300 Pounder scoring a
crit, while the Chilean Almirante Cochrane and Blanco Encalada missed.
Desultory hits followed, the Chileans ignoring for the most part the Monitors
who were running interference and getting in the Chilean's way.
By Turn 5 however, the Chilean Armored Cruiser Almirane Cochrane had sufferred
massive critical hits, slowing it down to a speed of 2, losing half her crew,
and three-fourths flotation damage.
By Turn 7, the Peruvian Huascar, poised to get away finally took some major
damage from the Blanco Encalada, and three Wooden Vessels with spare 150
pounders waiting in the background, slowing her down. It previously calculated
that Huascar "could" have gotten away, but the last set of damage would have
kept her on the board long enough to possibly stop her.
Good game guys. I'd like to play that scenario again.
