Kriegspiel Resources:

For those who want the ultimate wargaming experience--maximizing fog/uncertainty, friction, disorder, and complexity--here's the place to go for more information, systems/rules, clubs, and more!

Kriegsspiel Introduction video.  Takes just a few minutes to watch.

Kriegsspiel News website.  Good resource for practical tips, fellow practitioners, and after-action/session reports!

Too Fat Lardies.  Good list of Kriegsspiel materials to include rules, scenarios, and maps.

Reisswitz's Kriegspiel History (an informal one, at least!).

Kriegspiel: The Wargame ($0.99 on Amazon Kindle/Free Cloud Reader

Verdy du Vernois, Verdy's Free Kriegspiel Including the Victorian Army's 1896 War Game at Amazon.com.  A free version is available on Google Play here.  (Thanks to Bruce Gudmundsson for this!)

Le Vol de l’Aigle (Flight of the Eagle ).  A modern-day rules set for recreating campaigns of the Napoleonic wars.  Moderate complexity to extremely complex (requires a stout referee/umpire!). For an excellent AAR on the 1806 Jena-Auerstaedt campaign using this system, check it out here.

See attachments for two English translations of the original von Reisswitz Kriegspiel rules and a short set of Questions and Answers from Sandhurst.

While most of what you'll see deals with 19th century style applications, there's no reason one couldn't do this for 20th an 21st century battles and campaigns!

Hello!

Ha! Nice picture! ;-)

I am Marshall and I run the So Cal Kriegsspiel Society. We have a Facebook Page (Southern California Kriegsspiel Society) and a game coming up on May 27, 2018.

If anyone is interested in playing, let me know. I also authored an article being published in Battles Magazine in June.

Verdy's 1876 book about the "free Kriegspiel" can also be found on Google Books.

Thanks, Bruce!  I added the link up top!
