If you pre ordered and have your CC info up to date you probably already received your game. Online sales in early January.

The game will handle the three operations centered on the mainland of Italy, Avalanche, the main invasion a few miles south of Naples, Slapstick, the capture of the large port and Italian naval base, and Baytown, the effort on the "toe" the boot by the British and Canadian divisions of 8th Army.
The Italian surrender of most of its combat units and all of its navy coincides with the Sept. 9th invasion date but pits the German mobile divisions against the efforts of General Mark Clark's 5th Army to establish a beachhead and drive north. Units are Regimental/B
Battalion scale and it uses an updated fog of war system called the Variable Combat Series.
This allows for a lack of complete knowledge on the exact dispositions, strength and makeup of the enemy and even the units under your own command.
Each game will be unlike the last due to a random strength chit held by the main parent units of the force.
Split scale and transit tracks keep large distances under control on two 22 X 24 inch map sheets and bring together the three operations to present a classic offensive as well as a difficult defense and counterattack.
This is done on a unique 6 level terrain map to show the monumental effect that the Italian mountains had on operations.
Three alternate history scenarios, one 4 turn invasion scenario and an 18 turn historical campaign game explore how it was done and what could have been done at the start of the road back to Berlin on the European continent.

There is already a Vassal module created by Greg Blanchett and it works very well with some added fog of war features to help game play feel more like tabletop. It will become available when the official launch is announced.

This week is a milestone for the series and Salerno. MMP received a big helping hand on this project from Noble Knight Games http://tinyurl.com/csf7nxq

VCS Salerno will be printed in the schedule now! Grab the game at the bargain price here: http://www.multimanpublishing.com/tabid/59/ProductID/83/Default.aspx

I don't update this often, but in 10 or so days we expect to push the game into the wrap up sequence. The artist, Nicolas Eskubi, is busy with Lincolns War, that made its kickstarter goal and should be free for this project when that game is complete. I sent some last minute detail changes on the map and counters to the developer and should be organized for a big push.

The preorder price is still available until the printing is complete here: http://www.multimanpublishing.com/tabid/59/ProductID/83/Default.aspx

Unedited newsletter submission to MMP

On September 3, 1943, the Allies invaded the Calabrian peninsula directly from the island of Sicily in Operation Baytown. This led directly to the surrender of the Axis Italian government on September 8 and the disarmament of the Italian army by the Germans. The very next day saw the unopposed landings at Taranto, Operation Slapstick, near the heel of the Italian boot. Both of these actions were undertaken by the British 8th Army under General Bernard Montgommery. The same day, combined allied forces assaulted the beaches south of Salerno some 70 miles north in Operation Avalanche under US General Mark Clark, commanding 5th Army.

VCS Salerno uses a varied scale map that depicts all three operations that are assigned the task of establishing bases for the removal and defeat of the German 10th army, and driving north to establish a second front that was promised to the Russian Permier Joseph Stalin, our ally in the war.

The game system uses a variable combat system strength chit to resolve combat and takes combat assets such as air, armor, artillery and unit integrity into consideration in a measured, support driven method.

Units are regiment/battalion except the invasion force that begins broken down and builds as the lodgement on shore progresses. Airborne forces are used both in the 18 turn historical campaign and in the additional 4 scenarios, one short invasion and 3 Alternate possibilities to the campaign.

Check your email for the MMP newsletter. It has some product shipping and directly in the pipeline behind this are three games, one of them is VCS Salerno.

If you have this on preorder please refresh your information on the company website so that a possible summer release can push ahead in full swing. http://www.multimanpublishing.com/tabid/59/ProductID/83/Default.aspx

If you have been waiting to buy this title, remember that a big surge in orders now will mean that it could get pushed ahead in production.

http://talk.consimworld.com/WebX?14@@.1dcef53b/2643 has an excerpt from the email.

Testing out the game and the Vassal module with a run through the historical campaign.

After the initial two-part invasion turn...

Then carrying forward to the start of turn 4. Evening of the second day ashore...

September Preorder update for MMP = Korea then AP #10 and after that Salerno

There are just 5 orders left to go before reaching the 550 target. This does not include any vendor orders that people may have placed locally. Box production is due to start and soon after the remaining components. $31.50 http://www.multimanpublishing.com/tabid/59/ProductID/83/Default.aspx

The box and counters are in the process of printing, approving proofs and scheduling delivery. This has been in the works a couple of weeks so things will be moving to the next steps as soon as this is completed. After the 2 maps are done the 2 rules booklets and single player-aid chart, printed front and back with the various charts on them will be last up.

It's a savings of nearly 25% to preorder this series opener. If you have this on preorder already, make sure your CC# is current and that your preorder is on file with MMP, http://www.multimanpublishing.com/tabid/59/ProductID/83/Default.aspx

Brian Youse came on the forum page to let people know that several parts of the game are in production and that " it won't be very long at all".

This is great news to my wife, who has had to watch me put endless hours into proofing, cross checking rules cases, playtest games and map details again and again. Needless to say, she thinks we are all bonkers for putting this kind of time into our games. You'd think she would be used to it after the extended netherworld I passed through in producing Iron Tide.

Nothing will be better than to see the game in its completed state, on the table at the Consimworld Expo, where it has festered in various states of playtest states for many years now.

As we speak, well type in any case, the rules booklets and player aid card is in production. The sheet and a half of counters was being redone a few weeks back for typos on another unrelated game that shared the last half-sheet. The box was in production and was due proofs also a few weeks ago.

This leaves only the maps when the other items arrive at their warehouse, or so I understand, and then assembly by their army of volunteers and staff. Soon, maybe not by Xmas but likely soon after unless they surprise me with a flurry of activity before their upcoming Winter Offensive convention they love doing.

Salerno is to begin shipping very soon. I was told that my copies would be shipped to me as soon as their office reopens. The last call for the discount has been made.

They're here!  :-)
