Hi. I just got the bulk of the SWWaS titles and am already running into rules questions, but can't seem to find a source for answers. The 'Geek is pretty much useless for this series, and I don't belong to CSW. There is no official FAQ on the Avalanche site (at least that I can find), and a Google search hasn't given me much hope either.

The specific question I had regards the series rule 13.34: Anti-Aircraft. The rule says that on AA rolls of 6 that one aircraft step can't attack, and that half of those steps are then destroyed, with the players alternating choice. However, the rule is vague on whether the choice applies to just which aircraft are destroyed, and which can't attack. I'd guess that the choice applies to which aircraft are destroyed only, but it's a leap.

I find this sort of thing crops up in Avalanche rules all of the time (think the Assault rules in Panzer Grenadier, which has generated flowcharts in attempts to cover the corner cases), but Avalanche doesn't like living rules and they don't like errata compared with other companies. I like this series compared to GWaS, especially the optional surface combat rules that encourage ship formations, but I have a very low tolerance for ambiguity in rules and I'm concerned that the lack of a living FAQ that this will be an issue for me. Thanks in advance.

I agree. I need some questions answered also but can't find any errata or FAQ anywhere. Sorry but I can't help you with yours as I am a beginner at this also.
you can always email in a rules question. They do have a FAQ btw, but its at the bottom of the daily content archive list. Your specific question is not attended to.
