What is the definition of "beer and pretzels" wargame? I'd think it's easier to determine what isn't one than what is one. I think of them as easy games where you can just push counters around for fun and not lose yourself in the mental intricacies, but then I'd argue that's more a characteristic of mindset than it is the game. Those AH classics are pretty engrossing mentally but can be played in a more cavalier/carefree manner over "beer and pretzels"--just don't expect to win. On the other hand, I never feel like I have to put a lot of mental effort into COMBAT COMMANDER when I play it, so I think of those games as more "beer and pretzels" these days.... I'll freely admit to my own prejudices....
