We have a new review online about...a Block Wargame :)
Thereis a Alpha (or is it Beta) module that still needs some work by it'd developer, I was fortunate enough to be involved with the playtesting of the game Strike of the eagle. Hopefullyy the vassal module we be up yto speed soon.
Finally tried SotE last weekend (learning scenario). Do note that the blocks are reasonablly sized. They are thinner than Columbia Games (which I prefer) but work well given the stacking limits. The scenario had a nice flow to it. The event cards seem interesting though we ended up using the cards only for orders rather than combat mods. It will definitely get some more play.
I have my Asia Engulfed on the shelf and unstickered. One of my many "to do" projects. Those tiny blocks appear a bit intimidating for my less-than-artistic abilities. Mind you, I was able to sticker the C&C:A blocks and the ones from AE are probably the same size.
I had to be very careful with the stickering for "Strike of the Eagle". Well, I am always careful; just more so in the case of this game. The stickers are not that much smaller than the block faces so extra patience is required to line things up a bit. Also, my copy had no extra blocks so I needed to give them a good look over to choose the best side to sticker on.
It is a tidal wave of purchases!
I was just going to ask that very question, Tom.
I have seen Strike of the Eagle being played by members of my club and was so intrigued that I immediately bought a copy. The mechanics look very interesting, especially regarding orders. I have yet to play it though.
Has anybody tried Strike of the Eagle yet?
