Hi All - nothing has been posted on the website yet, but this is just an early notice that at Williamsburg Muster (February, 2011) we will be having two block game events.

1. - We are having a Borg Fest, that will feature Richard Borg's designs, especially Commands&Colors:Ancients (and Napoleonics if it is out). This will be a "walking tournament" where players can play as much as they want, over the weekend, and log results to have them tallied and prizes awarded Sunday morning.

2. - We will also be having a Columbia Games "Medieval Iron Man" tournament. This will feature three games from Columbia - Hammer of the Scots, Crusader Rex, and Richard III. Again, the idea is to promote play, so awards will be based on number of games played (with a bonus for playing all three), as well as win statistics. Prizes to be awarded Sunday morning.

These are both an answer to the growing number of boardgamers that our conventions are attracting - a feature we want to grow and grow . . .

Mike,

That is an interesting combination, Block, Gran Strategy, and Cards. I agree that blocks are underutilized and I believe the reason is cost. This usually means that a Large or even Monster game usually means only 150 to 200 Blocks, mind you this is plenty for a Monster Block game, a good number of gamers don't understand that in most instances this is more than enough pieces, I have a fair amount of block games from the Original East Front through Euro Front II, through Bobby Lee, to Sam Grant, CC:Ancients, Europe Engulfed and Asia Engulfed, ETC.

So I know that this is the case, 100 blocks (Medium) game is more than enough for this type of game.

I am a huge fan of block games and am just finishing my first published design, Sturm Europa! which will be the first card driven block game covering WWII at the grand strategic level. I think blocks are underutilized in the hobby and am always happy to educate the uninformed and promote their merits.

Hello all,

I have started a game of Gettysburg, We are just getting used to the system, I may put up some pictures of the play as we go, but I would most likely start with the the Campaign Game.

Welcome Breaker! I think you will like Hellenes & Crex - Our group has started a EuroFront II game at Pet Shop Comics in Louisville. I will try to post some pics this week.

Having just purchased my first block games (Crusader Rex and Hellenes), I think it's an appropriate moment to join the group! Looking forward to lots of block gaming goodness....once I've applied all of the stickers to the blocks that is!

Ric, I think CG got some good games waiting to be published. Except from Shilo and Shenandoah, I hope that the Borodino game by Carl Wilner will be published.

My time constraint is an evening shift, so the best time for me to play is in the afternoon. I'm in the Eastern Time zone.
Bliock games I know include Quebec 1759, War of 1812, Napoleon, Hammer of the Scots, Crusader Rex, Athens & Sparta, Wizard Kings, Victory, Gettysburg, Rommel in the Desert, Caesar's Gallic War, FAB Bulge, EE and AE.
