A French-Canadian cabal?

I am also going to call John tonight and ask him to monitor this site for anymore attacks, innuendos and false accusations

Spoken like a true tattler. I have no opinion (don't even know who 'Gunny' is) about
the discussions herein. The allusions you made about secret emails are
precisely why this kind of shit should be in the open - let people defend themselves

But, where people can't talk freely, like at BGG, and what you're trying to do
here, is precisely when someone will just  be ostracized by secret cabals.
It's police-state behavior, and absolutely disgusting.

I have been following the discussions about Gunny. I have to say I am very disappointed at the lack of civility that has been shown this gamer. I have been in the hobby for over 50 years having played AH Gettysburg in 1960 as a senior in college. I can only say in all these years I have never seen anything like the hate that has been directed at Gunny.

I met Gunny over 5 years ago on Vassel. I was new to it but with his patience and help I managed tolearn how to use it. When he moved to my city a couple of years ago I was overjoyed to have someone aas dedicated to the hobby living near me. We have spent hours on Vassal and on the phone discussing the hobby and one game in particular. I have always found him to be agrreable and a very nice person.

When this disagreement began with this group from Canada I was surpriced at the vicious private emails they sent to him. They contained some of the most filthy and prevertedlanguage I have ever seen. I would not even begin to describe this to anyone, let alone on this site.

I am with you all that this is not the site for such vicious attacks but I just wanted you all to know it is not of Gunny's doing. Due to a disagreement I will not discuss here, this group of individuals have promised to make Gunny's life miserable on any site or convention like the expo he plans to join or attend. So be alerted that this is what is really going on.

I do not know these people or who they are. I do know they are Canadian, (French?). What their motives are I can only guess, but I can tell you that Gunny served in the mid east as a Marine and alter as an MP.I also know our GI's are not loved in most of the world. However, only they can know their true motives.

A fact, their claim that Gunny was banned from the CSW website is a incorrect. I am a personell friend of John Kranz (he calls me his seconf father) and he assured me he has never taken any steps against Gunny. He is aware of the conflict between Gunny and this group from Canada, but has assured Gunny that he is welcome on the site and also assured him that if he did choose to attend an expo anyone harassing him would be asked to leave the venue.

So I encourage you all to ignore the unfair comments that have been made against Gunny. Allow him to join in the fun with all of you true wargamers, and yes he loves to discuss and disagree on game rules. Yes, he will argue with you , and yes he will respond just like a Sargent will. But we all owe him and all those who served our country the respect men like him deserve and I can only ask those people in the hobby that that are not Americans and may disagree with our country and our military, to please leave them alone. I for one will defend Gunny whenever and were ever he may be.

I am also going to call John tonight and ask him to monitor this site for anymore attacks, innuendos and false accusations directed at Gunny. If anyone should be blocked from this forum it is those of another country that attack our own.

I can set up most of my miniatures games in half the time it takes to set up a typical board wargame. My games usually take less time as well. You must come to Little Wars sometime and play in one of my games!!! Otherwise, if you're in Chicago, let me know. Your choice of game, from Ancients to sci-fi.

John - The key value to minis for most is the aesthetic appeal. In terms of gameplay,
minis systems tend to be less developed, and require more effort on the part of
the players. They give more flexibility for creating battles, but most board wargamers
have plenty of games and not enough time as it is.
