Makes you wonder if will BBG upgrade their website to CSW standards.:)
The best value I get out of BGG is without a doubt is finding kindred folks and the trade service. Hate to lose that.
Another question - does anyone know if you can easily broadcast a message to all Geek Buddies at once?
I had always thought of the BGG donation/annual beg-a-thon to be guilt driven and not necessary to their success - content given away by our contributions is the meat of the value - donations are dumping money into a Salvation Army kettle for a rich guy.
Go to admit that in the past few months I have considered resetting my BGG presence.
Basically, create another account, gift it with my GG, deck out the new guy in a more 'professional' persona, import my game list, delete Wilhammer completely.
Is their a way to export my game list? Yes.
But is their a way to import it? I don't know.
Interesting. I've donated to them the last 5 years but lowered the amount this year after debating with myself about donating at all. I increased the amount I gave to CSW though.
Tried democratically running sites a couple of times.
The first, the needs of democracy sickened everyone enough that they voted it out.
The second was a reaction. It was less democracy than pure anarchy. Settled into
Just saw another thread locked by Octavian with the usual missive of, Remember - if you see something you want to react negatively to, flag it and forget it.
It got me wondering; if everybody red-x`d his post would he unlock it? Would he pay a blind bit of notice?
Would be nice if there was a mechanism whereby if the majority of people on the thread were not offended they could red-x the moderation as un-necessary. It would be almost - democratic.
Yes. I donated one time in December 2011 and then BGG went into one if its mood swings in January over the forums, and I immediately regretted donating. I have been embarrassed carrying around that supporter badge. I always figured my session reports were enough donation. After many efforts of trying to D-elim the patron badge, I finally emailed Octavian and asked him how to. I wonder if he saw my thread about that on BGG. The consensus was that there is no way to remove it.
was that the only patron badge you had ?
Great News. Octavian got rid of my 2011 Patron Badge for me. All I had to to do was Geekmail him asking if there was anyway to remove it. He said: No problem, I removed it.
Nice bit of Google Fu
