I am designing a web-based operational wargame as part of my thesis so these Cold War wargames have been invaluable for my research. I'm currently playing through NATO: Next War in Europe and will then move on to Next War: Korea. Any recommendations after those two?

hi guys..I gather by Cold War gaming you mean Cold War Turns Hot games like GDW's Third World War series,Charles Kamp's series of Central Front games (still looking for 'Hof Gap'),SPI's 'Nordkapp and the like...if so I have these and one or two others...

Would love it if they did Next War again, but they seriously need to fix the CRT for that game. I want to see more of the Modern Battles Quads, maybe with a bit more chrome (and in the case of Bundeswehr, fixed rules again).

So is there a 'better' cold war game than 'Twilight Struggle' out there?

Andy recommended the Cold War Museum site a month or so ago. Another interesting place is the National Cold War Exhibition which is a very impressive, permanent exhibition based at RAF Cosford in the north west of England. The exhibition houses a staggering collection of aircraft, tanks, armoured vehicles and missiles from the Cold War era together with comprehensive coverage and information about key events. And it's free to get in.

It has an accompanying website at: http://www.nationalcoldwarexhibition.org.uk/index.asp

Particularly interesting is the Cold War Archive - the link is on the right of the home page. Once you've accessed it, select a primary option (e.g. Missiles, Countries, Battle Squadrons, etc) and then a secondary option within that primary choice). You're then presented with a wealth of information and media regarding your selected subject.

Every time I visit the exhibition (it's only an hour away from where I live) I'm desperate to play Twilight Struggle as soon as I get home!
