I'm playing Germany in 1944 against 2  friends shortly. Seems like a tough gig given history. In solo play I could slow the allied invasion by denying him beaches in the general offensive but couldn't drive 2 non beach landings back into the sea. I cover port beaches with subs backed by TAC. The 2 non-port beaches in NW France are held by 2 inf and 2 pz corps. Subs built in Trieste cover the Adriatic and Aegean. In Italy I plan to use Rome as a supply source and the mountains. In the East I set up on a shortened line from Lake Ladoga to Nikolaev, Abandoning the Dnepr bend and Sevastopol. This line is double stacked, 2 forts in front of Minsk. Any hints?

CRT is easy, like all AP products (except PzG) there is no CRT, just roll dice based on combat strength. Great flexibility in 3R version.

I hated it when I bought it years ago. Re-tried it and found it was better than I recalled, but it is gamey more than sim. Added some neat options from DC and was very satisfied. Did upgrade to 3rd Ed, AP gives it away free if you buy a product, $1 otherwise.

Try to get the third edition rules ($1 with any other purchase from Avalanche PRess) as things are a little cleaner in those rules. From my experience, the combat system works out well, but takes players that are used to CRTs some time to adjust. Once players get a handle of that and then see how quickly the game can be played it takes off.

I own this game, and it looks terrific, but the combat resolution rules stopped me dead in my tracks. They didn't make much sense to me. It's been years since I read them, but I'll try again and then maybe have specific questions for this group.
