A few hours late, but not bad considering I'm currently in France.

Later than usual - but LYG now updated here: http://www.limeyyankgames.co.uk

And we're still on the lookout for a Vassal volunteer for SoS4 (see homepage).

WCSC Playtesting Update[

Whilst getting everyone actively testing is dependent on getting the Vassal module finished, there has still been good progress over the last couple of weeks.

Along with the general feedback as proof readers look at the various documents and playtesters get acquainted with the rules, we have had completed games of the full campaign scenario (2-player - as designed, and solo play), 2-player play of the short/intro scenario and solitaire play of the solitaire scenario.

Feedback has been very positive but plenty of tweaks/clarifications (and typos) are being found and addressed.

Whilst we have a purpose designed solitaire scenario I was also interested to hear how folk thought the full campaign (designed as 2-player) played solo. This is the feedback from Jonathan Townsend (who is proving to be a great playtesting asset):

I asked:
"How do you feel the 2-player game plays solo? I’m not a solo player myself, so it is hard for me to assess."

Jonathan responded:

"Absolutely fine. Hidden forces and/or movement are not integral to play. 'Hidden' hands of cards are no problem for the seasoned solo player (or the necessitated newbie) since each side is just played as what they would or might do in the circumstances.

The fact that it has a push your luck turn end and variable events adds immensely to the solo 2-P experience. We play for the exploration and narrative more than anything else, like reading a dynamic book, being part of the creation - it's for relaxation and enjoyment in that way rather than testing and improving each others mettle in a friendly way.

Also, because the Christian side is relatively passive/responsive you already have a natural solo 2-P dynamic set up from the start. Once one gets used to the Ottomans then the challenge would be in having the Ottomans in a 'passive' mode and following one (possibly branching) of the 'set' routes whilst the Christians are actively focused on in order to stymy that.

That is how it goes and would go for me."

Jonathan is also producing a series of videos on his playtesting the first two are here:
