Will Iraq do instead of Afghanistan? Have a look at Fallujah which is being published by Blue Iguana Games. I haven't seen much movement on the development of this for a few months but when it finally does appear it might fit your requirements.

I'd like to see some man-to-man solo games done on the various COP fights we've been seeing in Afghanistan. 100-200 insurgents versus a handful of soldiers.

I've recently played the new version of RAF, followed by Where There is Discord. I've posted a detailed review of the latter game, including gameplay, over at BGG. WTID has the feel of RAF; reaction to air raids and early warning, but it adds an interesting political element. Much prefer it to RAF as it streamlines gameplay (possibly too simple for some diehard grognards?), has excellent components and provides a fun, tense narrative. You can order it from Noble Knight Games; still expensive but cheaper than ordering direct from the UK. But then I'm in the UK and used to paying a massive premium for wargames from the US.

I just got D-Day at Omaha Beach recently. I'm waiting to read "Omaha Beach" by Joe Balkoski before playing. On my table right now, I have Field Commander Rommel set up to play the D-Day scenario. It's the only scenario I haven't tried yet. I'll be setting up Field Commander Alexander after that.

I read up on "Where There is Discord", but I'm not sure if it's up my alley, and the shipping from the UK made it more than a little expensive, so I've passed on it for now. I'd love to hear comments on the game play.

Couple of new solitaire titles just in. There's "Where There Is Discord: War in the South Atlantic", a game on Falklands/Malvinas '82 by Daniel Hodges. Very surprising for a self-published game, it's got Euro-like production values--right up there with Conflict of Heroes (what is it with these little guy publishers? Don't they know wargames can't have such high production values? :)). The game focuses on the strategic-political and operational-naval level, and is the first Falklands game I know of that has included so much of the political component. The second game is "D-Day at Omaha Beach" from Decision Games, designed by John Butterfield, who designed "Ambush!", another solo title (DDaOB can also be played co-op against the system).

Just received my copy of GMT's Kaisers Pirates, great looking components and the full sized rules makes the oversized box worthwhile (plus it matches your other GMT's games on the shelf :) ).

Hope to play it tonight and give my thoughts, watch out allied shipping I set sail tonight :)
