Anyone who may have missed out on the MapForge Kickstarter campaign...You can now get in on the MapForge Indiegogo campaign.

There are two new videos to check out, even if you already backed the Kickstarter. And the MapForge Beta release will probably be re-posted later tonight.

Correction, there will now be NINE free content Add-Ons for MapForge (for backers and non-backers, usable with or without a software license).

All the Stretch Goals have already been unlocked, but there are still 8 days remaining in the campaign, which now has well over 1300 backers.

Oh, and a new Pledge Level has been added for those who want to use the app for publishing the maps, or for commercial projects.

Quick update on the MapForge Kickstarter campaign: One week into it, with close to 900 backers, two Stretch Goals have now been unlocked! 5 free content Add-Ons for everyone (whether a backer or not), plus support for random map generation.

Thanks! I launched the Kickstarter campaign for MapForge, and, amazingly, it funded the same day!

I like it!  Good luck.

I can now reveal the name of my new mapping program: MapForge

And, for now at least, this is the app's icon.

If all goes well, the Kickstarter campaign should launch before mid-February.

If you are truly going to go digital with your map-making, Adobe CS is the only way to go. All printers can handle those files, and any other program will have overprint and color control issues until you filter them through CS. It is the standard if you intend to actually produce more than 100 copies of a game.

Scale of the map doesn't depend on the app... HexDraw will do all the stuff listed. However, it only does hexes and not squares. Lance is right that Jo has been into other projects and I don't know how it will work with Win10... but for now it works great for me making prototypes.

HexDraw and my own app will be fairly different tools, which produce maps for completely different scales. Mine is for tactical-scale battlemaps (e.g, 1 square = 5 ft., or 1 hex = 3 ft.)

I'm planning on having a lot of professionally-produced content available for it. Some as free downloads, others as paid Add-Ons. And of course you'll be able to use your own artwork, as well (or bitmaps you've downloaded from the net).

I have and use Photoshop and Illustrator, but I would love an easier option for some projects and for prototyping, especially if it supports downloadable symbol and style libraries.
