There needs to be some new activity in this group.  Any Baltimore area players interested in FTF?  let me know.

Hi there,
My name is David Lubin, I have been a game Grognard for most of my life. I am looking for opponents I would prefer Face-to-Face gaming, but will consider PBEM. I am mostly into WWII games though I do enjoy and have several ACW and Ancients (in fact one of my favorite games is Siege of Jerusalem Avalon Hill). I also enjoy Monster Games. I have a good collection from GDW’s “Drang Nach Osten!” and “Unentschieden!” Through the Gamer’s “Bloody Omaha” to the most recent Decision Game’s remake of SPI’s (I actually have both versions) “War in the Pacific!” Though I really enjoy all types and sizes of War Games!

I also enjoy board games like “Space Hulk”, “Descent: Journeys in the Dark”, “Tide of Iron”, “Memoir ‘44”, and many others. I also enjoy a limited number of RPGs, CCGs, and Miniature games. I am handicapped and traveling is difficult for me but I can host and I can leave a game up on the table rather indefinitely! So if you are close enough to drive here drop me a note and let’s play a game, my collection is over 300 games.

Its all in the dice, tough scenario, but can be beaten. I think its a great beginner scenario for the beginning player to play the allies, and the axis to be the more experienced player.
One thing thats fdifferent about memoir 44 than regular board games is it tries to be similar to history. With the allies having the surprise attack, the favor is very much so for the allies. You will see some scenarios are really touch and some are more balance. Days of wonder has ratings and reviews by the users in the advanced archives that can give you a better idea. I love to win a good game, but memoir is not always balanced. And sometimes you can see the tables turned in a blink of an eye.
BTW I really like FNH's podcasts mentioned below. Also check out
As far as miniatures, check with brummbar about pendraken miniatures, they work great. I use some tide of iron stuff with my Memoir 44.
Also has the memoir module to play online. Takes a bit to learn but very fun to play live across the internet

Good luck and email me if you ever wanna play (Usually nights from 8 to 10 EST)

That's why I didn't have too much difficulty with the seemingly "favored" sides in a scenario - you can play both sides.

I am strongly determined to paint my miniatures as I purchased the Eastern and Pacific Front soldiers as well. Does anyone have any recommendations for historically accurate colour schemes? Any good websites for this? I'd like to make my tanks and infantry look somewhat close to "authentic" as I may use the pieces for other games.

Hi Myron,
You are right, some of the scenarios are unbalanced and favour one side or the other. They tend to be historically accurate in general though. The key to playing Memoir, and fortunately it is short enough to do it, is to play as both sides. You then add up the total of medals and the highest medal count from both games wins.

Chris, I have bought and painted a number of 10mm Perrin miniatures (they are the same company who made the tanks that come with Memoir). They help enhance the look of the game for sure.

Myron, you might be interested in a podcast about the scenarios of M44. So far, the first three scenarios have been recorded and posted at

Anyone tried "importing" models from other games, etc., to M44? I built a few German late-war tank destroyers and was thinking they were about the same scale.

SO I jsut cracked open my box of this that I purchased a long time ago and started reading the rules and playtesting the first scenario. Everyone I've played it with seems to feel that the first scenario is very one-sided. Is this true for you all? Is it true for many M44 scenarios?
