If all goes well, I will playing this tonight on vassal. My second game so expectations of good performance are still fairly low all around...

Johnny-come-lately, but I do love this cruel mistress...

The WBC set that Nick sent a link to is not a pretty map, but it does contain a copy of the combat tables on the map, so you don't have to open a copy of the tables in a separate application (or have a physical copy handy).

I could not find the combat tables in the other set. I think many sets leave that out since people are supposed to own a copy of the game (which I do).

GMT offers both sets. Not sure why one would pick the other one.

Tom, thanks. You are right. Thierry Aradan's CB file has a much nicer map. It isn't easy to change the VP spaces on it though (I dropped some extra markers on the space to remember). I'll try that and see how it goes.

The Cyberboard module I'd like to see is one where the map and setup matches up with the tuornament, particularly the 'changing' of the VP spaces!

Nick - there are actually several CB sets floating around. My preference is the "Thierron" (sic?) set as the map is much more pleasing on the eyes, i.e., it matches the real map and doesn't have just a set of boxes and lines on a white background.

Andy - simultaneous play of multiple games, once you get into it, is not really an issue. I find it takes more time to kick my kids off the computer, start CB, access ACTS, than it does to actually do your move. As far as expertise level - if you can hang in with Wargameroom play, ACTS play is a *snap*.

OK, I found the Cyberboard files posted on the CSW formus. Here's a link to the file if anyone else needs it.

How are people tracking the board usually? I see there's a Vassal module, but it doesn't seem to allow solo play. Is there a recommended method for this?

As far as other conventions go, I think it's also useful to let your opponent about your game pace, outages, etc. Much time has been wasted because you think it's his turn and vs versa. It's also important to remember that, POG in particular, many folks don't speak English as their primary language so miscommunications can happen.

As for other conventions in use, some players agree to use out of supply (OOS) warnings, where movement only would cause the OOS situation.
There are times that the attacker might want to roll the battle dice, when he knows no defensive cc apply, and wants to keep the game moving.
Having the defender roll dice gives the defender the chance to confirm the validity of the attackers move before any dice are rolled. This is important as maps can become out of sync, and this provides a check on bad moves.
