It seems every time we play (Face to Face) the game brings out emotions that nearly boil over to adolescent fighting.

I am the youngest in our group a 40 and we are all stable and well rounded men, however, play a game of PAX and we seem to encompass the roll of our empire that all that is done against us is personal and vengeance plays a deciding role in our actions.

Take for example our last game, I were the Greeks. I read that taking Cyprus as the Greeks was a good opening move and kept the East under check. I made a successful sea journey to the island and created a nice town to secure my position. I actually saw it as an island to now open negotiation talks from to keep the East from attacking me so we could both concentrate on the Romans.

The negotiation broke down and the East made it his sole purpose to get Cyprus back. Before the launch I pleaded hat it was insanity to try and we should talk. He refused and in landing on the island he lost most of his main army.

At that moment the East won the battle of Cyprus but lost their Empire. In the next turn I without much resistance walked to Egypt with 55 BP and created a City and defended and slowly took the whole province. (Short summary of the Egypt battles: He would beat him self on the walls and I would go out and finish him off)

Would I have pursued this strategy normally. Probably not, but I felt like Alexandra on fining retribution for prior disagreements.

I will add other stories of wild emotions at another time.

The game can generate a lot of emotions. I think it's because, while you know you need to have a strategic plan, it's very easy to let yourself get focused on whatever is happening close to you. And with each province so important, losing anything at all gets under your skin.

Which, to be honest, is how we wanted it - glad to see it's working! :)
