From time to time undergraduate political science students have done independent studies projects with me in which, as part of the course assignment, they complete a conflict simulation game design. So far it is shaping up to be a really great game.
Happy to evaluate it for publication at One Small Step if he's interested. I've been looking for a viable design on the topic.

A perfect model of chaos is chaos.
Syria will no doubt be an interesting game topic. But it is a bit delicate though since it is still unfolding in front of our eyes. It feels a bit awkward playing a tragedy as it actually happens to real people at the same time.
In this case, of course, the purpose of the game design is to explore the real, ongoing conflict for analytical and learning process. I certainly agree on the delicacy of gaming a current war, but some of us are professionally required to study such things!
