Board wargaming in Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill

Hey everyone!

Welcome to Triangle area wargaming :)

I'm going to try to get certain running organizational tasks in their own discussions, so people can discuss what to play at certain linkups there, and save this area for bigger announcements.

For now, I'm just happy we've all got one place to try and organize a few games!

I was unable to meet this Saturday, but let me know when you are available in the future. I have some old Avalon Hill games like Battle of the Bulge that I would be willing to play, but if you have a large game collection I would be interested in trying newer games.

Anyone interested in some wargaming on Saturday over at Gamers Armory?  I'm open to pretty much anything.

Looking to get a long winter's game going. Next week the clock moves back so it will be dark at 5. Anyone interested in a a Friday or Saturday game starting at 5 and going to 10-11? I love La Bat, and have really started to enjoy GTS. Really good mechanic for play.

Dick, thanks for the info and the invite!

Anyone interested in some GTS action might consider attending the Savannah Skirmish convention this coming weekend in Savannah Georgia. Joe Chacon, the designer of Operation Mercury, will be there Friday night through Sunday. Joe, Bill Speer, and I will be testing Joe's new GTS game called Saar Attack Counter-Attack. It's a one mapper that pits Panzer Lehr against the US 4th Armored Division in November, 1944.

Also, the group that meets at my place has been testing another one of Joe's GTS upcoming games, Race for Bastogne. We'll probably be continuing to play that for the remainder of the year. Jamey, Don, you're welcome to stop by and check things out. Others within driving distance of Cary are welcome, too Just contact me if you're interested.

Hey Jamey! I share your concern -- I picked up Saipan when it came out, figuring it would be a nice diversion while awaiting OpMerc. One look at the CRT told me it was different enough to require some mental gymnastics compared to GTS. Interesting, though. Keenly anticipating the Montelimar game!

Don, I would take you  up on that, but I am currently learning Adam Starkweather's new Company Scale System (CSS) game system that he developed after he left MMP and went to Compass Games.  It is a streamlined version of the GTS system, from what I understand, but same scale.  I think trying to keep the two game systems separate in my brain would make my head explode.  :)

Anybody up for a game of MMP's Operation Mercury? The initial landings near the Maleme airbase make for a nice one-map scenario and would fill a good part of an evening. Good intro to the GTS system, too.

Don:

I have not played the game nor I am familiar with this system, but I would be interested in learning the game at Gamer's Armory.

Anybody up for a game of Baptism by Fire, the new BCS Kasserine game? Looks like something that could be played in an evening, and I'm thinking a session at The Armory would be perfect.
