Board wargaming in Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill

Hey everyone!

Welcome to Triangle area wargaming :)

I'm going to try to get certain running organizational tasks in their own discussions, so people can discuss what to play at certain linkups there, and save this area for bigger announcements.

For now, I'm just happy we've all got one place to try and organize a few games!

SWMBO has plans for Friday which do not include combat in Crimea,,,but I am free most other times; Thanksgiving is our major family holiday. BTW, Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

Brant,

Any plans for Friday? If I can, I'd like to make it. However, I've been asked by SWMBO to go looking at new refrigerators on Friday if there are any good sales.

Mark, if you think you can come I can bring EFS Crimea if you'd like to look at it or play a scenario.

There is a new wargaming store opening this month in Asheville, NC. Too bad its not closer to Raleigh.

Looking at a game-day on Black Friday, since there aren't a lot of things happening that day. Anyone else up for it? Any of the Greenvillians interested in joining us? Since it's a longer day, we may be able to get some longer games in, too.

Anyone interested in playing EFS, WWOM, AVL, etc.?

Sorry I couldn't make it on Sunday; my son was sick and my wife was working, so I was stuck.

The 20th was a good bit of fun - 4 folks showed up and we split time over Bravery in the Sand from MMP.

In discussing with the group, October pretty much sucks for getting together, so I think we're going to look at November for our next link-up. The West Regional Library seemed like a pretty good location, too. Big, new facility with a large conference room with rolling tables that could easily split out for 5-6 different games.

so look for some discussion about a November game day on 8, 15, or 22 November and we'll try to accommodate as many schedules as we can.

I know we haven't even gotten thru the game day linkup on the 20th, but if anyone out there is looking ahead on the calendar to the next good day for wargaming after that, bring your suggestions to the meetup next weekend and let's see what fits for the group, and the libraries.

well, considering we've not yet gotten everyone in one place together, it's pretty much open season. :)

I've found the internal debate (i.e. the debate in my head) has been to either play a lot of games poorly or a few games well. I prefer the latter model, but then you must, as you say, find that set of holy grail games that one chooses to become goo…

Chris: Really - that's a good point. I wonder if the Audi folks realized the message they were sending out with this one. I doubt if anyone found it funny in the least. Smitty

I've recently printed and built "To the Last Man." I was able to play the game and get an idea of its look and feel beforehand thanks to BGG and Cyberboard. It's an excellent game, one well worth the bother. I _hope_ it is just by unfortunate accid…

Yes, this was a creepy ad. I looked at the Audi website to compare this car to others. Oddly enough, you are unable to compare it to the VW SportWagon TDI, which gets exactly the same mileage.
