New Versions of WinSPWW2 - 5.0 and WinSPMBT 6.0 to be released possibly as early as 3/26/12 (This monday!).

This release seems more a true maintenance release as there is nothing game changing that I can tell (with out testing it out)...but its an update...which is more than SPWAW is getting...thank God for Camo Workshop.

New(ish) WinSPWW2 mods available!

Manteuffel and WinSPWW2 hero Cross have both released nice mods for our good ole WinSPWW2!

Cross's infantry mod id not exactly new but he has packaged it up as a 1.0 release in the Shrapnel mods section.

Manteuffel has produced some really nice eye candy with new intro/prefs graphics with his Intro Pictures mod.

Not particular for WinSPWW2...but for WinSPMBT (but fully compatible with WinSPWW2) is a mod released by Rosollia called "Shrapnely explosions mod" which mods the explosion, smoke dispenser and tracer graphics.  It is based on an earlier mod by Lahtinen.  

Last but not least, Cross has updated his outstanding sound mod to 2.0! (a must have IMO)

Note: Mantueffel is also working on a a new flags mod which you can download a version of now...but he has promised an update.

Darrell I may take you up on your PBEM offer once works settles down a bit (traditionally March and August are the busy times).

I am working on a project but can walk you through the ropes in Sept. if your still interested.

Generally I like doing 1000-1500 battles on 80x80 maps. General historical picks, company when you run out of companies to buy purchase platoons and then sections.

Great to see guys on here are playing this stuff. It's not Squad Leader but it fills the void. Anyone looking for a PBEM game with a guy who needs a little teaching?

Matrix Games SPWAW is no longer supported (and it's not as good of a game in my opinion as winSPWW2) but if you go to Matrix Games after some searching you should be able to find that free version as well.

I have been playing Steel Panthers for over 10 years. I started with SSI's, moved onto SPWaW briefly, and the found SPWW2 and then moved into winSPWW2.

It's like good wine or scotch, you aways come back to it.
