For operational Normandy games, I liked the TSR edition of Cobra, despite some nagging order of battle problems.

For the grand strategic picture, one of the most innovative titles is John Prados' Bodyguard Overlord, the first title from Spearhead Games. It doesn't have the most sophisticated modeling of combat of any game on the market, but it does give an unusual amount of attention to intelligence, deception, and the fog of war. I playtested this game, and retain a respect for it.

I have Bodyguard/Overlord, and does appear brilliant.

Never got anyone to play it, though I have some Hope as my son has grown to a teenager and, as part of his Homework, he wrote about the Fall of France, 1940.  Naturally, I made my library available to him, from "The Collapse of the Third Republic" by William Shirer to games and their support materials (France, 1940 battle manual (with articles cribbed from S&T), "Fall of France"(EUROPA Series), and more.  He now wants to see DUNKIRK in the theaters.  Thank you, Chris Nolan and Kenneth Branagh for your timing!!!!
