The official social platform for ConsimWorld
Despite the uncertain status of ZunTzu, I still find it to be a very desirable platform for creating electronic versions of games for local and solitaire play. While the ZT website has reappeared in…Continue

I can't use ZunTzu for online gaming. If I try to be a HOST, it seems there is something wrong, and no one can connect with me. Also if I try to connect with other people, it's rejected as timeout…Continue

I'm having trouble getting a game-box I've created to work. I've created a couple in the past and have been using a working game-box as a model. Still no joy. Maybe I'm having trouble using WinRar…Continue

I will try to reach out to the developer next week. Hopefully he will respond and we can find out where the codebase is at, etc. and if he is looking for any possible help. Not sure how this will play out, but probably a good idea to explore at the very least....
I haven't used ZT synchronously in a 4-5 years. I just tried to host a game on ZT and got a message about ZT's central server being out of service. I then selected the host anyway option but could not connect to another PC running ZT.
Thanks Gary! And question for Michael... sounds like you have been able to get Zun Tzu working for synchronous play with online remote opponents? I have not been able to get it working for that, so would be interested in how you have been able to do that.
Gary, thanks very much. I am hopeful that someone will pick up support for ZunTzu. There is nothing like it if you want to quickly create a module for solo or synchronous play.
Okay, the ZunTzu zipfile is attached. Just unzip it and drop the folder anywhere you like (no installation process necessary). Navigate the folder to find the ZunTzu executable (ZunTzu.exe). Run that, and you are in business. I included more specific details in the readme, but it is not complicated at all.
If the original developer (and I am sorry to say I do not know who that is) is no longer in the picture, it would be great if someone else could rescue this superb app. ZunTzu is clean, transparent, and intuitive -- especially when compared to what seems to be the community favorite, Vassal, which I find clunky and dense.
I am in the process of salvaging the instructional files from the ZunTzu site, with the help of Wayback. I think the gameboxes which were housed there are lost, as Wayback doesn't seem to archive them.
Let me know if the attached file doesn't work for you, and I will help if I can.
someone taking it over if the original developer agreed with that approach would be great. Just anything to keep it alive and thriving. I consider it a wonderful platform.
Gary Anderson. That would be great thanks! Plus any instructions on how to set it up on the computer would be helpful too. Thanks again. And John Kranz, yes the simplicity of making Zun Tzu gameboxes as well as the player interface is really outstanding, and I do hope that it comes back. I wonder how to contact the original developer about it if someone wanted to try and take over....
I really appreciated the simplicity of zuntzu but I realize being under a single developer meant it may fall by the wayside. I wish another group could pick it up that has good developer skills, or at least find out if the original developer needs support.
Steven and Michael, I do now have -- thanks to the help of the members of this group -- a stand-alone version of ZunTzu that works offline and does not require installation. I won't be near my home computer for the next 24 hours so I can't access the file right now. But I can post it here sometime Wednesday. Check back then. As to the ZunTzu website: In spite of the "ZunTzu will be back online soon..." message, it sure seems dead....
Hi. I went to install ZT on a new PC and found that the ZT site is down. I looked through my old PC files but cannot find a ZT installer or setup file. Any idea how I can get ZT running on my new PC? Thanks!
