We are also talking up this subject on the BGG Typhoon thread. https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1898045/map-scans
I had to risk cat invasion and set up the physical game yesterday. It won't last.
Yes, you use the strength chits as cards and you draw randomly from the deck.
Not sure the floating chit trays are the ones used for cards, but they are in the menu at the top. You select the tray and drag the chit out for placement. A menu on the chit allow it to be flipped or be place back into the original tray. Exactly like the original game.
Modules for VCS Salerno and Iron Tide: Panzers in the Ardennes are posted in the module list and work the same way. The difference is that in Typhoon there are more trays for national colors.
Sorry that should have been meant for Charles
Nate, I am curious about the Operation Typhoon Module - I was wondering how you intend to handle the combat value chits? Do you randomise onto a counter or are you going to go old school and just allow a player to draw a random chit and put it on (under?) a combat unit.
I saw a couple of sample of the counters, done for my eyes, from the set of scans I linked for the Typhoon game. I found myself wishing for the redone set rather than the classic.

Maybe with a higher resolution and not wishing to ruin hope for the project: Wouldn't it be great to have a choice?
I know, double the work load and loyalty to the original. Bleh!
It's easy really... I just gave ownership to all the pieces and made the mouseover only work for the pieces that you own.
I am downloading the Typhoon scans as I write this.
600dpi scans are being sent. I am hoping you are familiar with the module built for VCS Salerno to use as a template. The floating chit trays and features that hide units from popping up on the enemy turn when mousing over are nice choices.
There are also available new counters designed if you want to use them..
