"I just found one of my favorite game (systems) Cyberboarderizeded over at Slimey Blanks...Superpowers at War...too bad it was only two games, but digging out the rules this weekend and will soon begin playing when I get a chance.
Thanks to all at…"
I played with Toy Soldiers as a child, but was formally introduced to Board Wargaming in 1974, when I joined the Army and was stationed in Kornwestheim (Stuttgart/GER) and met a group of like minded soldiers who introduced me to SPI and S&T magazine. First sub issue...Breitenfeld.
Your favorite game(s):
I still like a lot of the Old Classics...NAW/NLB and any offshoots, 30 Years War Quad, etc., but I also like a lot of the new stuff out there too...GMT's Great Battles system (SPQR, Alexander, Belasarius, etc). Mainly interested in Colonial Era Wargames...especially in India/Africa from 1757-1939.
Toy Soldiers count? You mean the hundreds of little plastic army men we used to set about the yard in tactical formations and throw rocks for artillery are to be counted as wargaming for this purpose, the introduction to consim gaming? Damn!
