Bill - I will be here until June and am interested in gaming. My favorites are listed in my profile, but I will play most any wargame. At a minimum, I can give you the email of some folks I've played a few CDGs with (successors and Napoleonic wars).

Bill,

Welcome to Oahu, and I hope your time here is as much fun as mine was!  I am no longer stationed there, and my apologies for not updating my info...I didn't even know it was posted on Consimworld. Now I'm in Manhattan, KS.  One Oahu wargamer contacted me a few years ago through BoardGame Geek, so if you haven't tried that venue yet, I recommend giving it a try.  I don't know if he's still there.  Good luck, and sorry I'm not there.  I haven't found any evidence of wargamers here, so nothing but solitaire so far.  At least I win most of the time.

Welcome aboard, Sir! I am a former Marine NCO, and I resided in Ewa Beach, HI from 1988-1994 (my spouse was a AMS2 attached to VP-4 at NAS Barbers Point), so I am well acquainted with Waipahu. I miss the Islands; if only it was not so infernally expensive to live there! The East is Red was the first war game I ever saw advertised - there was a post card insert in one of my dad's $1 paperback Ballantine's Illustrated History of World War II books. Welcome to Consimworld, Sir - and thank you for your service to our country!

Bill, welcome aboard.  There's a number of us who were gamers before we joined the service or who got into it when we were in uniform.  Bet your board gaming has helped you in the Army in some way; gaming sure was of value to me in my military career.  Nice too that we've got some military guys who have succeeded as game designers--Bill Gibbs (Omega), Dean Essig (The Gamers/MMP), Ben Hull (GMT), Brant Guillory (BayonetGames), and Mark Walker to name but a few!
