Profile Information

Your introduction to consim gaming:
I have been wargaming (board games and miniatures games) since the mid 70s, when a good friend of mine in Scouting introduced me to Avalon Hill games (D-Day and Blitzkrieg were my first).
Your favorite game(s):
So many - these days, I actually prefer lighter wargames like Memoir 44 and C&C Ancients, because I can teach them to other gamers so easily. I also prefer miniatures gaming these days, as well, because it makes a very nice demonstration type wargame at a convention.
What game(s) are you currently playing (solitaire, FTF, PBEM, etc.) or wish to play next?
I am currently working on a "wargamer's guide" for the Russian Civil War, and also a set of rules for Russo-Japanese War. I run miniatures wargames about once a month (next will be ACW), and I play boardgames about twice a month, usually lighter wargames and euro-stratagy games.
What game(s) have you played recently?
Memoir 44
Napoleon
Hammer of the Scots
In general, how much time do you spend gaming?
3-4 hours per week
How big is your game collection?
over 250 games
Your local game club(s) and/or where you reside (let's network!)
Old Dominion Military Society - in Tidewater Virginia
About Me
I am a full time research scientist at Georgia Tech, working in the area of computer simulations. I mostly do contract research work for the US Military and NATO.

I have completed a PhD in Modeling and Simulation, and have been (and continue to) serve as faculty, teaching (among other things) combat modeling, simulation methods, and computer science.

I am currently working on finishing up a graduate degree in History.

See you guys there. My first one was last year, and it was tremendous fun, even though I caught a nasty cold and could not talk for most of it.

It's just a workshop so no costumes. I'm hoping my new kilt will be ready by then. It's only taken a year. :/

No worries. One of these days I'll have enough time to have a real conversation, not just a casual chat in the hallway. Chronology is a cute little timeline game that's easy to play and appeals to history geeks. Was penicillin invented before or after the invention of x-rays? Did the Wright Brothers' historic flight happen before or after the Shroud of Turin discovered?

Sadly, I can't make the Williamsburg Muster as I'll be in Valley Forge, PA at a highland dance workshop. Sounds like fun though!

Hopefully we'll see each other before the next MarsCon!
