The official social platform for ConsimWorld
Donald, I write and teach decision-forcing historical case method to my students and have been for over 20 years. Your perspective matches mine; I often like to make some of these personalities central figures in the cases and put the student in that role--they are exposed to aspects/factors that aren't always covered by some historical authors (particular those with axes to grind). A few of those and they start to understand how difficult senior-level command really can be. I also like to use cases involving senior leaders who are considered quite good but lose that particular battle/operation. So your comment really resonates with me!
Welcome Donald, to the CONSIMWORLD Social website! Would be interesting to hear what you are learning by comparing your history reading to the games that cover those topics. A lot of us also don't know much about THIS WAR WITHOUT AN ENEMY--I've been thinking about purchasing it, but I've been quite pleased with UNHAPPY KING CHARLES (GMT) and don't know that I need another game on the topic (I auctioned off Charles Vasey's THE KING'S WAR once I got the GMT title--while I liked it, I liked the newer game more). Hope you find some groups here you are interested in and--if you don't--you will start one or more of your own for others to joint and contribute to!
