Jim Eliason commented on Herr Dr.'s group WBC Sand Plaquers
"WBC 2014 is history.  And sand history was made as I lost in the quarterfinals of Victory in the Pacific--again--this year, garnering my 4th sand plaque in that event and my 5th overall.  All four quarterfinal games had to fall right for…"

Jim Eliason commented on Andreas Ludwig's group Fire in the Sky
"Thanks Kev.  Duh, now that I checked, the 26 Feb post does look truncated.  It must have been too long.  But it was so long ago now that I don't remember what I was going to say next.   I guess it was to use economy of…"

Jim Eliason commented on Andreas Ludwig's group Fire in the Sky
"I recently finished a PBEM game of this.  I beat a newbie as the Japanese.  I'm in turn 6 of another game where my Japanese have gotten terrible dice.  Rangoon never fell, and I've given up on it.  Surabaya survived…"

Jim Eliason commented on Andreas Ludwig's group Fire in the Sky
"Kev, by "comments" I guess you mean the CSW article and the CSW post.  I don't know of any "truncations" on this site.  The CSW comments were intended to be just a very short summary, and I wrote it that way on…"

Jim Eliason commented on Herr Dr.'s group WBC Sand Plaquers
"We need an energetic leader.  Herr Doktor was ideal.  Last year was kind of a bust since HD wasn't there and I was plagued by a temporary speech palsy.  I was ready to follow, but was unable to lead or inspire the…"

Jim Eliason commented on Andreas Ludwig's group Fire in the Sky
"The article recounting the PBEM final game finally appeared in "Special Ops" magazine from MMP in the summer 2012 edition.  It gives some rules explanations, strategy comments, and is illustrated with board positions.  It was a…"

Jim Eliason commented on Herr Dr.'s group WBC Sand Plaquers
"The Sand meeting was a disappointment this year.  Only one other fez showed up at first.  Due to a mysterious speech impediment that came on 6 weeks ago I was unable to make an effective speech or inspire the few non-fez wearing Sand…"

Jim Eliason replied to Mike O'Brien's discussion Some suggestions for beginners in the group In the Depths: Attack Sub
"Some tips: Use passive sonar instead of active unless already maximally detected or your opponent's weapons are down.  Active sonar always helps your opponent and only sometimes helps you.  You may want to take the chance if you have…"

Hi Jim! I think we met a few years ago.. Hope things are going well for you! For the record, the Mage group is still active in Sioux City and Sioux Falls, though not a lot of boardgaming anymore, alas. I'm mostly residing in NY now, BTW.
