There was an old Spanish Civil War module for ASL which did include chapalians too!

Argentinian "Flash" unpredictability works like this--anytime the Brits and the Argies roll the same dice roll for Initiative, the Argies "flash" for that turn. Which means they get to roll another die for their attacks and pick the best one. Keeps…

Can you give more details about the Argentinian "Flash" unpredictability?

Just got my copy of the Lock 'N Load BAND OF HEROES module for the Falklands War, RING OF HILLS. Gorgeous package as is standard for this company. Anybody else get one? Anyone else give it a spin? I want to but won't have time for a while. Some of t…

Thanks. I've been a bit busy, but I'm going to get back to this.

Hre`s some data on the SHEFFIELD attack: The British picket line was detected and tracked by an Argentinean SP-2H Neptune patrol aircraft. This had pretty crude electronic systems, including a long range APS-20 search radar and basic ESM equipment,…

Well, SOME British radars were very good, like the Type 1022 used in the INVENCIBLE. But the most abundant radar systems (Type 965 for long range search and Type 992 target indicator) were old and had poor characterisitics. Looks like INVENCIBLE was…

John,
First, thanks for buying the hexsheet.

What you could do is cut and paste it into an editing program, I generated the product with CorelDraw, and then manually trim away the border with the crop function. That should also take care of the text in the bottom left corner. Doing the same thing again can trim the outside borders of the hex field itself if you need to make the sheets match up precisely.

The last stage would be to save it in a format compatible with Vassal, or export it as a pdf. For latter, if your software doesn't have pdf support, you can get Cute PDF (www.cutepdf.com). I've been using the free version for years, and indeed that is how the sheet was created in the first place.

I hope this helps.

I've recently printed and built "To the Last Man." I was able to play the game and get an idea of its look and feel beforehand thanks to BGG and Cyberboard. It's an excellent game, one well worth the bother. I _hope_ it is just by unfortunate accid…

Yes, this was a creepy ad. I looked at the Audi website to compare this car to others. Oddly enough, you are unable to compare it to the VW SportWagon TDI, which gets exactly the same mileage.

Lately, I've been mad at Newsweek, due to issues of bias that are beyond the realm of this group.  However, tonight I read a very good article on its web site, regarding layoffs.I was once in a meeting at a former employer, and we were going over th…

The game on the development table now is Rob Markham's Saratoga.  This game covers the decisive battle of the American Revolution tactically, with two scenarios.  One addresses the Battle of Freeman's Farm on September 19, and the other is on the Ba…

I'd love to see more open source work, but I'm especially thinking of computer games. That would allow not just designers, but the developers, to look "under the hood" to see what makes a good game work. Even if that education is taken to commercial…

I haven't seen much in the way of Napoleonic games as of late, and I think the COA system always lagged a bit because the rules changed quite a bit and there have been lots of questions surrounding a new, more playable system. I think if someone can…

What I think will be coolest about the concept is the use of touch displays to pick up and move counters, etc. and swipe the display with a finger to quickly scroll and view the map. All this while having a live chat window or audio option to talk t…

I just finished Pat Frank's 'Alas Babylon'. Interesting novel with mention of the old Grumman F-11F Tigers, B-47s, B-58s and more. A worthwhile read.

Stephen, I love all these game systems too. I will say I think OCS is the "holy grail" of operational-level simulation--with the stipulation that I rarely have time/space to play even one of the more simple titles (e.g., KOREA: THE FORGOTTEN WAR or…
