I'm a member of the the Philippine Historical Boardgamers Club (Est. 1995) a.k.a ]Philboardgamers. We meet at least once a month in Metro Manila. We have a Facebook group for keeping in touch between club meetings: https://www.facebook.com/groups/philboardgamers

I have a collection of aging wargame magazines going back to AH General #1 and S&T #1 and amateur publications from the early years of the hobby.

Look me up if you're ever in the Philippines, we can drink some San Miguel beers, shoot the bull, and maybe even play a game.

"The few CDGs I've tried make me feel like I'm playing Go with cards, not what I look for in a wargame."

Noted this over in a Russian Campaign discussion.

I suggest trying some of the less popular/more wargamish ones.

In particular, Empire of the Sun or Clash of Monarchs - they feel a lot

more like you're playing a wargame with cards. =D

There are still some disturbing qualities, but it is an interesting approach.
