STAMPEDE

Last week’s blizzard being a memory, Old Man Winter has decided to remind us what winter is about. Again. The folks around here, like folks anywhere I guess, get uptight when the words “Snow” and “Rain” are uttered by the weather people on TV. Add the words “Ice” and “freezing Rain” into that statement, and the herd gets spooked and stampedes around town to stock supplies and hoard food. Some things I have noticed:

1) Driving around: I feel like the pace car on a 3 day Grand Prix Rally…normally… Continue

ON PLAYGROUNDS

I recently took the kidlets to a neighborhood park. As I watched them running around having fun and screaming with reckless abandon, it stuck me how different parks today are from their counterparts of yore. Here are some examples:

LOCATION: Now – The site is chosen with great care for its scenic beauty and is professionally landscaped. The park is lighted and the sidewalks are clean. The parking is accessible to many cars and there is usually a soccer field and a softball field.

Then - the si… Continue

THE GAMES BUCKET LIST

Ok, we all have them...the shelf warmers, covered in dust because we said "Hey, that looks cool!" when we bought them and promptly moved on. You don't want to sell them, but can never find the time to play them. These are are the games we have but want to play before we die. Mine are:

The Gamers CWB 7 Days Opus...
Wacht Am Rhien (SPI Version)
Atlantic Wall
This Terrible Sound
Bloody Omaha (ATS)
All 5 Fleet Games
Grand Europa ( I have it all, but am still waiting for the rules to link them...I w… Continue

Matt, I'm letting go of a bunch of games and am sure I will be under J.R.Tracey's inventory of 5000 games! Sure of it!

I was going to ask you the same thing. I'm up a Lisa's, waiting her for to get home from work so we can go to dinner before the snow buries us.

I've found the internal debate (i.e. the debate in my head) has been to either play a lot of games poorly or a few games well. I prefer the latter model, but then you must, as you say, find that set of holy grail games that one chooses to become goo…

Chris: Really - that's a good point. I wonder if the Audi folks realized the message they were sending out with this one. I doubt if anyone found it funny in the least. Smitty
