A french magazine, Science & Vie, had back in the eighties wargame reviews. This got me into Squad Leader and OSG's Hundred Days Battles.

AFAIK, you're right! Down here warhammer and RPG type gamers can be found, and I did have a small group of friends play wargames back in the late eighties and early nineties (3R4, EiA, RoR). But the lack of critical mass means that FtF is pretty much n/a. I did introduce a figure gamer to ASL and we played for about two years. Then family constraints kicked in: easier to play CDG's at short intervals at home than devote four hours of family time for wargaming.
