A family friend had a copy of Panzer Blitz which he introduced me (’72) to. I don’t think we played by the rules but had fun anyhow. Asked for a “wargame” for my birthday and got “Kassarine Pass” by Conflict games as my first game. Discovered the Avalon Hill section of my local hobby store after that and the addiction started. Mid to late 70’s had a lot of great gaming with AH and SPI games with my friends and also visiting WVU’s gaming club where we saw games from companies we didn’t know about. Go times!! Late 70’s and early 80’s saw most of my friends going into D&D and I went along and had to play a lot solitaire wargaming. Mid-late 80’s I fell out of the hobby due to college, girls and lack of $ (because of girls). I did dust off a game once and awhile but didn’t buy any new stuff. Early 90’s got married and bought a house with room to game. My wife fully supported my hobby and then I found ConSim which really got things rolling. I’m back to playing a lot and have built up a respectable collection. The only problem is it’s very difficult to find FtF players.
Your favorite game(s):
Very difficult to say because it depends on my mood and frequently the book which I am presently reading. But I do have a Top 10:
La Bataille series (Quartre Bras)
GCACW series (Roads to Gettysburg)
Wooden Ships and Iron Men
