My first Published Game Design

GMT has added 1989 to its P500 list. This will be my first commercially published game design. I started working on this game in earnest right when CSW Social began. I made a few blog posts about it and got a lot of helpful feedback from the CSW Social community, so thanks to everyone who gave me their thoughts on the…

Oral history - my Dad at Hiroshima

I had lunch with my father today, and the subject of the anniversary of dropping the A-Bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki came up. My father was an 18 year old sargeant in the Counter Intelligence Corps stationed in Tokio immediately after the War. The CIC was a precursor of the CIA. His barracks was in the old Japanese Secret Police Headquarters, where the Japanese did their interrogations of captured US airmen. He had a desk on the 8th floor of the Taekoko building, which was across the street… Continue

Thank you for the quick and kind answer. I just started and i hope i can get it done in a reasonable time (couple of weeks?).Complete newbie here, hope not to get stuck. I have some question about the rules but these do not pertain to design so thay can wait. Are you aware the rulebook is missing a part of paragraph 7.1 ?
Cheers

Hi Ted, i'm trying to build a VASSAL module for Free at Last, i did not find any other way to contact you other than this. Are you ok with it ?
I could not find a precise ruling over this: are the counters available meant to be an absolute limit or not ? You say they are freely exchangeble, but not if they are all the forces that should be available. I ask because this would make for a different design.I just started to do the graphics so i am still in high waters. I hope to hear from you, if you want to mail me, bundaufilm at gmail dot com . Thanks !

Ted,
Thank you! I found about about the CSR about half an hour ago, and with the extremely deserving magazines nominated, I'm still pleasantly surprised.

You gotta get Twilight Struggle. Possibly the funnest game ever. I need help going beyond what I've done so far. My friend Jason is going to playtest the game with me. I'll have some updates in a few weeks. By the end of the summer I'll have a rulebook that includes the TS rules.

Ted,
The game looks excellent, and I do anticipate using it in my course. I don't have Twilight Struggle yet, though that's a possible purchase, again for educational purposes. Do you have any plans on generating counters unique to 1989? I think that would really make the game, and secure its identity.
