Spilled cardboard blood over wargame hexes for the first time in... let's just say that Nixon was President.
Back when Watergate was just a Washington DC office complex.
Got my initial wargaming lunch handed to me by a high school classmate, who sat me down over Avalon Hill's classic Waterloo game and said "I'm going to kick your (butt) in this, but you're going to love it."
He was right - on both counts.
I didn't play another Nappy game for 40 years (the sting of being dumped by your first dice never leaves).
Been wargaming ever since. Jobs, wives, CDG designs, pc games - all came, went, or endured over the years, but the fascination with wargaming has always been there.
Even back when the hobby was declared on Life Support by all the so-called experts (wargaming is NOT dead. Or even close. It's had more resurrections than "Rolling Stones Greatest Hits" reissues).
I've even played another Nappy game since that first.
