I was introduced into consims through Astronomy. The weather in the South during the Summer months is usually very bad, so, we needed things to do to fill in the time while waiting for the clouds to part.
It all happend within a week in the Summer of 1978. It was clouding and rainy and a club memeber called and asked if I would like to come out and play a new game he had called "Starforce Alpha Centari". It sounded like it was right up my alley. We played around with that and promised to try again. A day our two later, I picked up a copy of Nikki Palmer's Comprehensive Guide to Board Wargaming, rather serendipously (if that is a word). I was shelving books at work and there it was. Checked it out that night. It still had Strike Force One in it! A day or two later, another friend had me over for Panzer Leader. That was the end of that!
Any weekend that wasn't moonlit or cloudy, we were playing something, especially if the new S&T was out.
Your favorite game(s):
Battles of the American Revolution (GMT), Battle of the Bulge '65, The Russian Campaing, Blue and Gray, any GBACW or GCACW, Iron Tide, Savannah 1779, Squad Leader, Panzer Leader, Arnhem, Panzergruppe Guderian, many others.
What game(s) are you currently playing (solitaire, FTF, PBEM, etc.) or wish to play next?
Walter - sorry it took so long for me to see your message. Cool Stuff Games has a wide selection of games. You can see our inventory on www.CoolStuffInc.com. The website for the store with directions etc. is www.CoolStuffGames.com.
We sell GMT and Avalanche plus the Euro game companies. The store is a bunch of tables and the stock is back in the warehouse. You get a great discount and friendly people but the shopping 'experience' isn't much as you use a computer to browse the stock on www.CoolStuffInc.com.
Welcome Walter, still trying to figure out this place. It seems a touch more personal than the blog central. I put an original song on my page... by me. Not much else except photo galleries and small groups so far.
