Profile Information

Your introduction to consim gaming:
as you might observe by my favs list (below)...i have been out of gaming for quite some time (basically since joining the usmc 16 yrs ago). hoping to get back into gaming as soon as possible...mainly interested in asl (only played a couple games of the "new" system, but played heaps of the original vintage back in the day) and close action (never played, but love the genre). have recently purchased tiger of malaya, samurai, ran, carthage, for whom the bell tolls, guadalajara, maharaja, and here i stand...would love to play them. also interested in many other new games...the more unusual the campaign/battle/genre the better.
Your favorite game(s):
highway to the reich,
fire in the east,
storm over arnhem,
russian campaign,
machiavelli,
diplomacy,
king maker,
junta,
dune,
awful green things from outerspace,
and,
asl

Douglas, I hear ya...same issue for me as far as finding game playing time. I like the games you selected for your favs. I've actually played HttR (believe it or not) and thought it was a blast.

I played HTTR with Eric. It's a great system, although when we played the monster, it was really several scenarios played simultaneously.

I haven't played HTTR in years...loved the scenarios. Never could get the campaign game to work, though, so I have high hopes for the second edition. Of course, that's if someone can pry me away from DEVIL'S CAULDRON (MMP), which just shipped. May be rough....

Seriously, I played both HTTR and DESCENT ON CRETE. Didn't care much for the latter. Do love the system, though. One of the best for that scale. I think only PANZER COMMAND/DEVIL'S CAULDRON will compare...
