Billy Bob Ayers

William Ayers turned back at Canadian border

An American education professor, one of the founders of a radical 1960s group known as the Weather Underground, which was responsible for a number of bombings in the United States in the early 1970s, was turned back at the Canadian border last night.

Dr. William Ayers, a professor of education at the University of Illinois-Chicago and a leader in educational reform, was scheduled to speak at the Centre for Urban Schooling at… Continue

The Longest Football Grudge

I love my Steelers, but I don't hate the Arizona Cardinals. In fact, if they weren't playing the Steelers in the Super Bowl, I'd be rooting for the Cardinals, due to my respect for Ken Whisenhunt and Russ Grimm, both ex-Pittsburgh assistant coaches. In fact, the finalists for the Pittsburgh coaching job opened after Bill Cowher retired were Whisenhunt, Grimm, and Mike Tomlin, the outsider eventually hired. Despite some hard feelings among those not chosen, the fact that everyone is meeting in… Continue

Combat Patrol - House Clearing

***** All graphics are only for playtesting *****

One of the painful experiences of designing your own game system is that you might discover you are not very good at playing it. My long time playtest partner has a considerably better win/loss ratio than myself and in a recent playtest session showed me why. We were playtesting scenario 2 – Patrol. The Patrol scenario has many options and we were playing using the Farm and the Stream… Continue

"Impending Fury": My 2nd You Tube Movie

Earlier today I finally uploaded Part 1 of my "Operation Pedestal" movie on to YouTube and this network. My recent production details the course of action mentioned in my previous Malta Convoy posts (16 Nov, 22 Nov & 15 Dec 08).

Like many other writers I fell into the trap of getting carried away with my research. Pictured above is the cover of one of the reference booklets I used: Supermarina II, by John D. Gresham and Michael… Continue

Achtung Schweinehund! A Boy's Own Story of Imaginary Conflict , by Harry Pearson

Achtung Schweinehund! A Boy's Own Story of Imaginary Conflict , by Harry Pearson. A friend sent me this book late last year and I must say, it is the best read I've had in a while. It is bent towards miniature gamers, but it has a certain appeal to all of us who bought their first box of Arifix when we were just tikes. This book is for anyone who refought the last great war on the bedroom floor. Pearson is a sports columnist for the Guardian, and the book has a journalistic flair. It's a scream… Continue

Muslim Mob Shows who is boss in Germany

The interview:

"1:16 AM Received from Muqata Blog Reader in Germany, Sebastian M."

"Today, 10.000 people demonstrated against Israel here in my hometown Duisburg (Germany) and to express their solidarity with Hamas. So, my girlfriend and me put two Israel flags out of the windows of our flat in the 3rd floor. During the demonstration which went through our street the police broke into our flat and removed the flag of Israel. The statement of the police was to de-escalate… Continue

Science: Hot Women More Likely to Feel They Can Do Better, Cheat on Their Partners

Women with high levels of a key sex hormone are judged more attractive by themselves and others, and may be more inclined to cheat on their partners, according to a study published Wednesday.

University of Texas psychologists Kristina Durante and Norman Li found that women with high concentrations of the hormone oestradiol were likelier to flirt, kiss and have a serious affair outside an established relationship.

In a study published in the British journal Biology Letters, the… Continue

The End of Yard Sales and EBay Auctions?

Can our current gov't be any more idiotic? Apparently, it can.

The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, passed by Congress in August, goes into effect February 10. Among other things, it mandates all childrens' products, toys, clothes, books, etc. are tested for toxic lead and phthalates, chemicals used in plastic. Store owners must present a certificate proving the products were tested.

How to Destroy the Earth

"Destroying the Earth is harder than you may have been led to believe.

You've seen the action movies where the bad guy threatens to destroy the Earth. You've heard people on the news claiming that the next nuclear war or cutting down rainforests or persisting in releasing hideous quantities of pollution into the atmosphere threatens to end the world.

The Earth is built to last. It is a 4,550,000,000-year-old, 5,973,600,000,000,000,000,000-tonne ball of… Continue

The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement

VHEMT (pronounced vehement) is a movement not an organization. It's a movement advanced by people who care about life on planet Earth. We're not just a bunch of misanthropes and anti-social, Malthusian misfits, taking morbid delight whenever disaster strikes humans. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Voluntary human extinction is the humanitarian alternative to human disasters.

We don't carry on about how the human race has shown itself to be a… Continue

Porn Industry seeks Bailout money

You'd think this was an Onion piece, but it is not....

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Another major American industry is asking for assistance as the global financial crisis continues: Hustler publisher Larry Flynt and Girls Gone Wild CEO Joe Francis said Wednesday they will request that Congress allocate $5 billion for a bailout of the adult entertainment industry.

First Timer Being "Dragged Along"

Hey Folks:
I just completed my registration for Expo 09. I'm one of the first-timers Joe B. said he was "dragging along." In fact, if we can manage it, we may even be on the same flight.

Games I'm Playing 2009

January - Our second play of Warriors of God. We played the 100 Years War scenario. We were over halfway through it when we realized that we had the leader movement rules all wrong! Leaders can only cross a single border from a singe area each action impulse! We had been moving anybody and evrybody each impulse. Needless to say, we stopped the current game and will re-start next week. Also our first play of Lion in Winter (last week) was all wrong. How embarrassing for a… Continue
