Out with the old politics - and in with the new old politics....

WASHINGTON – New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson says he is withdrawing his nomination to be President-elect Barack Obama's commerce secretary amid a grand jury investigation.

Obama said in a statement Sunday that he accepted Richardson's withdrawal "with deep regret" but that the governor was putting the nation first to avoid any delay in filling the Cabinet post.

A federal grand jury is investigating how a California company that contributed to Richardson's political… Continue

Inkscape Boardgame Extensions 1.0

I decided to upload version 1.0 of the boardgame Inkscape extensions now. Changes since last release are too many for me to remember (most things are just fixing bugs for the countersheet and hexmap generator effects). The biggest change is the ability to specify colors and other SVG attribute values in the spreadsheet file (for advanced users only, and nothing you really ever have to use).

The Hunger Begins

The hunger begins today. I'm talking literal, constant, long-term hunger. If you look at some of my photos, you can see that my weight tends to vary from time to time. Currently, I am 40-50 lbs. heavier than I want to be. In the past, I have been able to lose that much weight in 6 months or so, but it requires being HUNGRY. SEATTLE's KNUCKLEHEADS

Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels announced this morning that the city will reverse its decade-old policy and use road salt to melt ice in future storms.

The mayor set certain conditions for using salt: on hills, arterials or snow bus routes, and on routes to hospitals and other emergency facilities when at least 4 inches of snow is predicted, if ice is predicted, or if extreme cold is expected to last more than three days.

The city earlier refused to use salt, saying it's bad for the… Continue

Victor Krulak Rest in Peace

Last year was a bad one for having to say goodbye to people who contributed to the life of this country and its culture. But the other day someone, a hero and not a celebrity, passed, and he should be remembered.

The man is General Victor Krulak, one of the outstanding Marine officers of the twentieth century. He was a warrior, a patriot, and a man with a fully developed pen and the courage to use it. In addition, in 1995 he must have been the proudest Marine in history, when he saw… Continue

MAP HELP NEEDED (KINKO'S)

Several days ago someone posted about going to Kinko's or such and getting maps increased. I of course mentally bookmarked it - and not more than that. Can you send me that info so that I can get some maps increased in size?

Thanks!
