Game Mechanic Idea

I was thinking about orders in a game that are pre-set on both sides before you execute them at the same time! a counter with a blank top but many differrent colors on the flip side, so attack forward may be green and retreat May be red, flank left yellow, flank right blue etc... if youve played a game such as ASL you retreat in a strick manner, so simular could be done for other commands as above.

iOS Gaming Platform -- When is it coming?

Okay, I notice a lot of iOS game talk over on BoardGameGeek. Does anyone know if someone is working on a ZunTzu/Cyberboard/Vassal like gaming platform on iOS for the iPad. That day must be coming....

Siege Of Leningrad Update

The people have spoken and the people want grab and drag scrolling support!   Based on the feedback from comsimWorld and Boardgamegeek users plus my playtesters and I have added grab and drag scrolling, and revamp the stack selection process to be much less intrusive.  You can now just click on a stack and then a highlighted hex to move units, ineligible units will stay in the original hex.  If you want to move just some of the units or select an option you can go to open stack window.  If…

Time for cuts...

I have decided it is time to thin out my gaming collection.

I must have around 50 games, which includes ones that came with magazines, and many of which I cannot see myself ever playing.

If anybody is interested in buying any, shoot me an email (nemesisuk@ymail.com) and I will send one back with what I will be getting rid of, otherwise they will be going on sale elsewhere

What's your preferred way to scroll game maps on a PC?

What is the best or preferred way to scroll a game board that is too big to view all at one time on screen on a PC?
- Keyboard
- Mouse-wheel
- Mini/jump map
- Slider bars
- Edge scrolling
- Grab and drag

-Other?

I usually include the first 3 methods in my programs but wonder if I have been missing out on a more popular method.

Neat little discovery....

Went to my page here and was scrolling down and came across the "My Photo" section.  Lo and behold there was a slide show off all my photos running!   How cool is that?  Very!  What a nice little touch to your home page.  Makes me want to visit others home pages now.  BGG and FB could both take a page out that book.  Thanks for doing that.

G'day

Hello everyone out there in ConsimWorld. Don't quite know what to say except that I have just got here via BGG. Thought I should see what goes on here after the recent upheaval there. Can anyone tell me what is the difference between where I am now and the Consimworld Forum which I used to browse through occasionally? Is this just CSW getting user friendly? (Sorry to be flippant) although I must say I still haven't figured out what's happening here....

Checking on possible lost content

I checked in this morning and found some recent blog posts missing and having to re-verify some new member requests. I think the ning network (this service) may have lost some data over the last three days -- which is the first time this has happened that I can recollect. I'll let you all know what response I get in the meantime as I didn't see any alert from them about lost data. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you submitted a membership in the last 2-3 days and don't appear to be…

Shipping & Import Duty

I have bought Slouch Hats and Eggshells from Legion Games.

Nearly half of the cost is in Shipping and Import Duty. Randy at LG told me in an email that they have noticed a drop in orders from the UK and Europe because of this, which is a real shame as Companies like LG could do so much better business if purchasers outside of the US were not hammered by Import Duty.

I would love to see someone in the UK or Europe to be allowed to reproduce these games to save on all the costly…

The VA loves me

I supose I should inform you.

The New Date for my surgery is 22 March. I need to have some dental surgery done ( a tooth is about to lose a filling - maybe) and I am not allowed to have anything done for two years after the hip replacment.

                       Yup.

                        Sucks?

                       Yup.

Panzerblitz

Played my first ever game of Panzerblitz.

My first ever game using units at company/platoon level (certainly for at least 25 years - I think).

I know some lifetime gamers will scoff, smirk and grin at this, but for me it is another step forward in wargaming.

Scenario 1 was won decisively by the Russians. there were a few minor slip-ups as far as the rules were concerned, but a very enjoyable game.…

Programming Updates 1-8-2012

The fall of Idi Amin is complete and a Demo version is available from my website.  Just waiting on completing arrangements at wargamedownloads.com before making a offical announcement.

Work has started on DG project.  Presentation of the map and units is a major hurdle for this game but I think I have the start of a scheme now.

Still need to finish up Leningrad and Crassus.  There's nothing worst that having a project hung up at the 90% done stage.

2012 Wargame Resolutions

I have a few resolutions regarding my gaming for 2012. I thought I'd share them and let others add their resolutions if they would like.

Do more solitaire gaming

Due to the fact that I've made some good FtF friends over the past year plus the fact that I have been an active vassal wargamer, I've done less solitary gaming over the past year. I'd like to get back to more of that while remaining an active FtF and vassal player. To that end I have purchased some…

The Baltic Gap

Thanks to my Wargame Secret Santa now I can enjoy the OCS system with Baltic Gap. I already owned Burma which I really appreciate but this time it goes to the East front with a different counter density and much more manoeuvers !

End of November a couple of friends and I tried the scenario 5.4 of Baltic Gap (OCS), named "the Baltic Gap"..... 2 players used to command the South Front, the others 2 the North Front (which correspond in BG at the two scenarios 5.2 and…

Project Updates 1/1/2012

1) The Fall of Idi Amin, Last King of Scotland - just sent off version 0.20 for testing. I think all game features are complete now . The Combat report could use some improving and it can use more help info but there shouldn't be much more do. I think with some tweaking of the attack supply rate the game should mirror history pretty closely.

2) The Siege of…
