I've been in my "World of Warcraft" cave since last August, but the coming of spring and some new game titles are coaxing me into the sunlight.
GMT's Washington's War has me salivating a little bit. I'm looking forward to playing this re-make (re-imagining?) of We the People.
Also, the new Yalu! by Compass Games has attracted my attention.
I've played neither of these games, but would like to hear what anyone else has to say about them. What's the buzz on these… Continue

Well, lately my thoughts have been drifting towards summertime. I'll be spending eight weeks at the house in Fort Bragg (that's the one in California, folks). Many years ago Paper Wars ran a series of articles asking people which five games they would save if their house was on fire. OK, so this isn't as drastic, but what will I pack in the Rubbermade tub for the trip up north? I do have some friends up there who are gamers, although not wargamers, so I'll need a wide variety of games. I'm… Continue

I am a robot.
Your human mating rituals are illogical.
I have regret I stuck my R2-plug into some cyber-floozie's love-socket.
My programming will not fail me again.
I know I my decisions have been questionable lately, Dave, but I assure you I have full enthusiasm for our mission to Jupiter.

The first installment of the Combat Patrol series is set in the fields and villages of France and Germany in 1944-45. That game is now firmly in the hands of the developer Neil Randall and approaching completion, I have begun work on the second game - this time based in the cities and towns of the eastern front.
In this playtest scenario a group of Russians are held up in the Shoemakers shop as a German Pioneers move into clear the… Continue

"Coming soon........" we've seen these words from both game companies and retailers on line. (note: I seldom, if ever, hear these words from my local game shoppe.)
Looking back over the past year I've noticed quite a few "coming soon's" from the on-line world. Let's face it, it's less than honest. What does this mean? Coming in a few days, few weeks, few months? I know a fellow gamer who endured a "coming soon" for two years! Perhaps it is time for a bit of honesty, especially on the side… Continue

Hello all I hope you will enjoy this particular blog. It really is my first blog I am doing so please tell me what you think - truthfully I can take the bad criticism as well as the bad. But please be a little gently with the bad criticism I am after all a virgin at this.
As the tittle shows this will be a series of Blog Entries for my solo game of The Battle for Normandy (GMT). I will also try and compare this BfN with a couple of my other favorite Monster Games The… Continue

As usual, Fareed Zakaria
is a voice of sense and insight. In his latest column
, he writes of the war against terror, as waged from within by Islam itself. In an underreported phenomenon, radicals are losing the war for the hearts and minds of the faith to moderate elements, he writes. This does not indicate an outbreak of Western liberalism or… Continue

In The Federalist Number 51
, James Madison wrote:
But what is government itself, but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you… Continue

Saudi Arabia produces more than oil and Wahhabism. Much to the terror of its rulers, it produces rock and roll. The Magic Kingdom is certainly a hostile environment, especially as it is plagued by the Islamic religious police, the feared and repressive Mutaween. However, despite the opposition of these thugs without an excuse to live, Saudi rock bands do exist, and the music scene is expanding, reports Fox News

Will wargaming migrate from Desktop Publishing (DTP) to true Freeware/Open Source designs? We see this with VALOR & VICTORY

. But I like the idea of collaborative wargame design, development, and playtesting. Is this a future…
