The Gaming Gang Extra Episode 38: John Kranz and ConsimWorld

I know this will probably hit the front page once John has the time, but I thought I'd share the latest edition of one of our "extras" as John Kranz joined me to talk about all things ConsimWorld as well as the upcoming game, The Hunters.

Here's a link for the almost ready to publish "Siege of Leningrad" based on the 1977 Jagdpanther Game but greatly modified and done with Stephen Coles permission.  Any bug reports would be greatly appreciate or even if you were able to play the game and you could be listed as a play tester (whoopee!).

KublaCon Game Auction

Just three weeks away from the KublaCon (San Francisco) game auction....   Highly recommended if you live anywhere near Northern California.  Good quality collectable wargames at reasonable (not E-Bay) prices.... There should be more than 400 lots with (I imagine) around 300 being consim games. Starts at 10:00 AM on Sunday, May 27th, at the SF airport Hyatt Regency.

Sharing the excitement!

This weekend saw no gaming from me, but I did manage to read the rulebooks for "World at War", "Nuklear Winter 68", and "Fighting Formations: Grossdeutschland", all of which were a pleasure to read, easily understood, and left me itching to get the games on the table.

Unfortunately gaming time was lacking over the weekend, but I did manage to bring the games to my local games store, which is predominantly a tabletop/miniatures gaming location. Showing off the above games to my…

ATO's Pocket at Falaise - End of Turn 6

The pocket is closed, and Argentan will probably fall in the next turn.  There is chaotic maneuver along the Dives River with the Germans attempting to open escape routes to the east while the Poles, Canadians, and Americans are attempting to keep them closed.  In the next turn or two, those German counterattacking units will probably have to begin to bug out…

ATO's the Pocket at Falaise - End of Turn 5

The pocket is quickly closing, but the game is getting chaotic in the eastern portion of the map area.  Argentan will fall shortly, which will free up some US units to move north.  The Canadians and the US 7th Corps have more or less linked up, but the pocket is still permeable.  The Germans have lost a lot of units, and the Allies have lost a few, and several…

Panzer Grenadier Beyond Normandy - this game is like an Iceberg

Why an Iceberg?

Well, I had read the rules about three times before setting up a scenario. Everything in the rule book sounded really good, reasonably straight forward and felt like the game had a typical scope of a standard wargame.

But once I got playing my first scenario, I realised I had made an enormous miss-judgement. This game has serious depth (this is where the Iceberg comes in) , of which (for me) could not be seen by just reading the rules alone. The alternating…

No Peace Without Spain (my first ever Vassal/PBEM game)

Screen shots from a PBEM Vassal game I am in midst of with another bloke in UK. Really like this game anyhow but works really well on Vassal (not much interruptive type stuff). I am playing Allies and we are now just about to finish 1704 (ie turn 3) during which I had a torrid time failing several sieges and losing a major battle in Italy.…

ATO's The Pocket at Falaise - End of Turn 4

Continuing to close the pocket.  Eliminated several german units and damaged others.  Slow going on the western side, though.
