I made this for the BGG solitaire p&p competition, and it won best wargame (and 2nd overall).
It's a light wargame, using regions. The player controls the Irish forces fighting the British, then, after the treaty with Britain, plays the role of Michael Collins' Free State forces against the anti-treaty Republicans.
Here's the map:…

Someone had posted on 28th Oct that Thomas had passed away.
Is this true?
I have not seen him on here for a long time. It will be sad if he has gone.

In Harry Pearson's excellent memoir of his wargaming life (“Achtung Schweinehund!”) he quotes a friend who's an alcoholic commenting about always thinking there’s one guy worse than you until you become “that guy.” And every alcoholic has a guy who fits that role until they realize they have become that guy. Well, this last week I had a “that guy” moment when my 30-pound OGRE deluxe game showed up on the doorstep. (See the photos section for a size comparison with…

I have a copy of the first edition of this game, made by OSG, which I bought from someone on ebay and I plan to play it soon.
It has the original OSG rule book, but it also has an original AH rule book from the second edition.
The help I need is whether or not there is any difference between 1st and 2nd edition rules. The second edition would be more preferable to read as it is indexed which helps greatly.
After a few brief looks at the two rule books, I…

I took some time and made a set of maps for winter and what I thought it would look like in Finland. Simple map graphics that would force the player to simply use the terrain given and maneuver not overload the board with too many terrain options.
Tried to give my versions of the original 2-4 boards for Winter and then added a board with lakes to represent the pock-marked land.
Here are some low-res versions of my maps, I guess I can't upload larger than 7mb, and each of these…
