First looks at couple of new games.......

Five games of Combat Commander !!!

Couple of days off (ye hah) and got in some more games with my Dad. Of course this meant Combat Commander got yet more play

First scenario was from the Normandy pack with an action set on Sword Beach with me as British invader against German beach defenders. AS can be seen from pics below I had a large strech of beach to traverse to get to cover of a line of Shingle with only few hedgehogs defences to assist. Moving in sand/beach hex costs extra half movement point. The Germans…

Combat Commander: Stalingrad

Another couple of scenarios played of this totally addictive and engrossing game with my Dad.

We decided to stick with the Stalingrad theatre.

Both scenarios proved very close run games.

First up was (I can never remember the scenario titles) a game set to the rear of the Barrikady Factory with my Ivans having to defend a key house (Dom 31) whilst awaiting a relief force. Couple of unique units in this one with an SMG and LMG Garrison counters set up with a Sgt in this…

Combat Commander 2 more scenarios played and enjoyed

Another two scenarios played with my Dad of this most enjoyable collection of bits of carboard and paper !

First scenario was from the Mediterranean Playbook covering action between Canadians and Fallschirmjager at Ortona Italy in 1943.

Basically a fight in a built-up area (map mainly multi-hex buildings) with the Cannucks having to advance against the formidable Green Devils.

My Cannucks made decent progress turning the Devils left wing but lost a couple of key Melees…
